NEED SOME SERIOUS HELP with my Fan Page! (13 posts)

  • NEED SOME SERIOUS HELP! One of my fan pages is going through some serious trouble when it comes to having my currents fans interact with any of our posts. I’m hoping that if they interact more and could grow the number of fans.

Our company in our opinion is a very forward thinking concept, a Mobile Sports Community, and it is our perception that it is a little bit of a challenge getting people to understand our service (hopefully we are wrong!) With that in mind, we try to keep our post simple, diverse (mobile news, sports events and activities, health and motivation besides our service) explanatory, fun, educational, current, etc. We have found and “Like” other niche pages.  We ask questions to get people discussing things. We have shared our Page with friends and family members. We have claimed our Facebook page name. However, we barely get any interaction. Our insights show that we have an audience but it feels like they are ghosts or too shy.

Thus, I was wondering, if you have the time and willingness to help us. Could you please stop by our page  https://www.facebook.com/PlaybookCommunity and take a look at it and send us your sincere and honest feedback.  Feel free to send me a direct message if you prefer to. I would really appreciate it. I am curious to see your objective point of view! Thank you very much in advance for your time and your advice.

    Happy Holidays Everyone :)

  • @systaley – Seems to me that you are trying to be a lot of different things. I don’t play league sports so I am probably not your target audience.

You want people to engage with you on Facebook but most of the posts and especially your header graphic is flowing your targets out of Facebook and onto your apps. How are the apps doing?

You have 163 likes…that’s a good start but, you really need thousands. Have you tried a targeted “Like” campaign to people involved in league sports?

I don’t see any real advice for anyone involved in team sports…just a lot of asking…”are you involved in team/league sports…?”. Maybe you need some interesting articles on how to find teams to join, how to manage teams, what makes a good team member, specific advice for specific sports…Just some ideas and opinions from an outsider.

  • @bob-green Thank you so much for taking the time to visit our Fan page and for your honest feedback. I really like your suggestions about offering advice to people to join teams sports, fitness activities and so on. The apps are doing great, we are almost close to a milestone of 100,000 users. We’re currently working on adding the share social media feauture to the app so hopefully that will help us to build audience.  Really appreciate your time and will take your advice for sure. Really good one! – Thanks again

  • @systaley We have almost 2000 Likes on our page and we have minimal engagement. The response we get is liking a post and shares. Comments are few and far between despite using questions and fill-in-the-blanks. I’m not overly concerned as the posts keep them checking back until it’s time to promote our conference.

Okay, enough about me! Your content doesn’t seem horrible. I always like the caption idea. While you’ve liked these other pages, you need to interact with them by liking, sharing and commenting on their posts.

I had a random thought. Have you tried connecting with local community centers? sports associations (http://www.sportscommissions.org/)? I would think that these groups would have active communities.

Also, check out my friend’s site: https://www.facebook.com/transitiontriathlon. Steve is always posting about activities, new merchandise, community service and more. He seems to have decent engagement for a small local business.

    Good luck!

  • Boring: http://goo.gl/WH9SV – 0 likes Engaging: http://goo.gl/C50pO – 2 likes proof is in the pudding. You need to stop going OT and focus on group sports not how to fix wet phones try http://goo.gl/dLhm7  - http://goo.gl/B4oaNhttp://goo.gl/6kjsQhttp://goo.gl/wPmwJ -m http://goo.gl/bwT21http://goo.gl/EQViF or something like those – Getting people to click on your links form Facebook is like herding cats – I’d kill all the links on your cover photo and do some really engaging stop action – put your links in the posts – I set this page up for a friend who never did did anything with the page but I really liked the cover: http://goo.gl/WdIqv Spend $2 -$3 a day on ads resolving to your page – you’ll start getting likes

  • @kc_kreative Thank you so much for your time and checking out our Fan Page. Your comments are very much appreciated. I will pass the information to the Sales department so they can learn more about the sports commissions, if they haven’t already done so. It’s great to receive new and fresh ideas.

@mitch-rezman Wow love your honesty. Very active ideas and definitely worth considering the hot shots for players. Thank you for your feedback and the time to visit our page. That’s exactly what I am looking for!

    Thanks much!

  • it’s never easy telling someone “your baby’s ugly” :-)

  • @systaley I’m wondering why you don’t have any engagement.  Who are those 163 people on your Page?  Do you know where they came from?  Do they have friends who play league sports?

Who is using your app  right now?  I do think an ad campaign would help ramp this engagement up a bit.  You could probably find some good keywords to target.  And maybe a good promoted post to re-engage people.

I think the general posts are not bad, I’m just surprised there isn’t more engagement other than from your own personal profile.  I do agree with
@mitch-rezman that the cover photo could be more engaging.

Are there other Facebook Pages of league teams that you could participate on?  Have you done a more traditional marketing approach of calling teams and connecting with them?

  • Hello Staley,

    Thank you for sharing this.
I mostly agree with previous comments from the community.

    My contribution is:
Define what could be valuable for them to hang out at your facebook page.
Use crowdsourcing ideas to generate some kind of competition/contest between them. For example: what about if you asked your community to (1) take an amazing photo with them wearing a t-shirt with your app logo on it, (2) share it on your facebook page community, (3) spread it through their profiles? The top 3 photos OR the most creative sport photo will get the prize.

    Promote the competition well.

I’m sure you will get some AMAZING content!

Hope this idea help. It’s just one of the many things you could start doing.

    Best!
    Max.

  • @Maximiliano Garcia not a bad idea but it violates Facebook’s TOS – it would have to be done with an app

  • Our page (http://www.facebook.com/electroniccigaretteconsumerreviews) doesn’t get very much interaction. However I definitely suggest finding other niche friendly pages and commenting on there posts using your pages account to spread the word yourself. We’ve received a few “likes” back from the pages we visit and do this with. Then, it shows that they liked us in their subscribers feed which then brings us a few likes which show in the insights almost either immediately after or, within a few days we’ll see a spike in “likes”. That my suggestion. You page looks good. Content is good. Just need to network a bit… Which is what we’ve done little of but we’re working on it :)Other than what’s just been said…..encourage your family and friends to “share” your posts. Emphasize “share”. :)My partner and I have never had a more difficult time getting engagement or running a successful Facebook page than this one, because of this niche, needless to say, if you look, you’ll see we’re in the same boat as you lol-Riddle Lo

  • I do really appreciate all your comments! Sadly, most of your suggestions I have tried already, like interacting with other niche pages and commenting, liking and sharing acting as the page admin. Some of the, now, 162 fans are clients that it seems like they don’t see the value of our product/service.  We offer free webinars once a week to all potential and current customers where we explain the benefits and use of the mobile app and offer F&Q section at the end. I will certainly try the new ideas that you guys have shared with me and see what happens.

I’m starting to think that in this new world of mobile apps, people think that having their own mobile app is cooler which sometimes is an uneducated thought if you consider the time, money, resources and energy it takes to build a mobile app (Android and iPhone) specially for small businesses. The recreational sport industry is not very well known for being ahead of technology. With time and patience I’m sure we’ll get there.

Thanks again for all your very useful and sincere thoughts, really appreciated. Now, working on a new FB cover photo!

Happy New Year and of course tons of success! …And many more FB fans, ha! :)
