Need Help (16 posts)

  • I watched one of the videos on youtube about place page, used for deals.  I thought I was following the instructions…..but I was very wrong now I have two fan pages and do not know how to remove the new one.

I don’t want to remove the wrong one because it has taken me 2.5 years to get 91 fans.  Ha!  I really do need this group.

Can anyone help me please :-(

    Best,

    Debby

  • Hi Debbie

First you will need to navigate to the “Page” you want to delete. Then follow the instructions below.

How do I delete a Page or Place?
To delete your Page or Place

    1. Click Edit Page in the upper-right corner of your Page
    2. Select Manage Permissions from the left sidebar
    3. Click Delete [Your Page Name]

You will have the option to unpublish or delete your Page. If you choose to delete your Page, please note that its removal is permanent.

  • @juleswebb Hello Jules, I have tried a few times to insert images in these comment box, like you did in that last reply, but somehow didn’t work. I tried cut & paste approach. And when clicking on the “insert image” icon above, it only directs to an HTML link, with no option to browse for pictures on the laptop. Help? ;-)

  • Jules,

Thank you so much for the help!  I followed your instructions and all is back to normal.

Guess I will need a few more classes.

Liked you on facebook and will be sending a friend request.

    Best,

    Debby

The “Insert Image” option above gives you the ability to link to a picture that’s located on some other server, not upload to this site’s server. Since I’m a developer I have my own “demo” site that I can easily upload images and then link to them.

I know there are online services out there that you can do something similar with, but I since I don’t use them I can’t think of them off the top of my head. I bet others will see this and speak up about which ones they use.

    Cheers! -Jules

I’m so glad that worked for you! AND thank you for liking my facebook page:) I just went live a week ago (with my website and social media presence) and I’m trying to get to that magical 25 “like” mark so I can get my custom url name.

    Cheers!! Jules

  • @juleswebb Thanks for the explanation, got it. Cheers,

  • Jules I want to put a like button on my webpage but I get lost in the code copy especially the part about the, admin, etc, help!

  • @durkbarton

Hey Durk, Can you tell me how your site is built or set up? If you site is built with wordpress there is probably a widget out there for “like” buttons.

Not sure I understand what you are referring to when you stay “admin”

This is the link where you get the like button code:http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like/

You would insert the code they give you into your html. Without knowing your setup it’s not really possible to give any clearer instructions, and if you are using wordpress you’ll probably use a widget instead of adding the code directly to your site.

  • @juleswebb Hi Jules, thanks for your interest. After much handwringing and palm sweating I finally did get the stupid button on my page. I am on a fortunecity site. At http://newpercept.fortunecity.com. My confusion, obviously enough, came because I assumed the Open Graph code was so essential to just getting the darn thing on the page. The “admin”, is part of the information it asks you for. Your encouragement helped me to figure that one out. Thanks loads.

  • By the way, has anyone had any problems with seeing their points gained for posts? I seem to not be seeing the display on some of my posts?

  • @durkbarton

So glad to hear you got it sorted out! Working with code can at times be a frustrating experience! Perseverance always works, well sometimes it helps to walk away and then come back to it.

RE: post pointsI have’t noticed an issue, but I wasn’t really paying attention.

  • @fredericgonzalo, http://www.photobucket.com is a free service where you can upload an image, even edit it and get a link to use for just this type of thing.  Hope that helps

  • @slarkin Thanks Shari. I just checked out the site, but it seems to be a mobile application, so not sure if it will work with pictures on desktop or laptop. I will check it out either way. Cheers,
