Need help – what is the best way to approach this? (3 posts)

  • I had a personal age that reached its max number of friends (5000). So I started a fan page about a year ago. This fan page nw has about 6000 fans.   But of these 6000 fans, only 1500 are my friends. Meaning that 3500 friends from my personal page did not move to my new page. Many have told me “they didn’t know I moved” even thouh I posted this move many time on my personal page, before hiding it from public eye. With the new timeline, what is the best way to notify my friends and invite them to join the new page? The friends list is no longer being sorted alphabetically, and that is preveting us from posting a short message to each of our friends wall, which was my initial idea. working with a 5000 name list that keeps showing up in random order, means we might post on someone walls twice or more in error and I wanrt to avoid that. the only other sorting I see that may be useful is sorting by City, but with 5000 fans all over the world in a zillion different cities, this seem to be also an impossible task. Who could guide me through this predicament? NOTE: i thought about merging both page but here again there is a problem: Once merged, the personal page would be deleted, and if the personal page is deleted, then it would delete the fan page as well, as far as I can tell. Many thanks!

  • @faith1932  If you use the search function you will see that this has been answered many including many times by me.

    Here is what you do

    1) you convert your personal profile (5,000 friends) to a FB page2) All your friends becomes fans3) now you have 2 FB pages4) you merge the two pages5) you will end up with one page with all you fans. It won’t have the combined number of fans since you have duplicates6) the FB with the most fans will be the continuing page

    Hope that helps.

  • @faith1932  What I would do is navigate to your Page as your profile and then click on the Invite Friends (under Build Audience button in new Timelines or on the right sidebar in the old version).  Then you will see all your current friends who have Liked your page already (they are grayed out) and all the ones who haven’t Liked your Page will have a check box next to them.

You may never get some friends to Like your Page – it’s just how it goes.  While that will be time consuming, it will be more visible and easier than posting on each person’s wall.
