Since September or October 2011, i see a decline in my fan base daily.
Read in few posts that bigger brands too are finding it difficult in acquiring new fans since May 2011. But is it possible that each time if i refresh my page few fans have left say 4 or 5? Though the traffic i have been getting from Facebook is pretty much the same and i have been updating my page FOUR times daily.
Even keep organizing contests regularly but my contests do not get the desired response
Someone told me that Facebook is deleting fake / psuedo profiles…for many pages too fan base is decreasing. How true it is?
Can someone please help me figure out the problem?

We haven’t been experiencing the same as you, in fact our fan base has been increasing tremendously. However, I don’t agree that posting 4 times daily will drive fans away, unless you’re posting undesired content.
With the new roll out of page timelines, posting more often is key to getting your content seen. Facebook is making it harder for page content to appear within users newsfeeds, so I wouldn’t back down on the posts, I would just improve on the content you’re posting. And don’t forget to periodically send emails or notifications to your database letting them know you have a FB page and what they can expect to see by “liking” you.

@suchigoyal, i think 4 times a day is about ok so long as you don’t post them too close to each other. I usually post about thrice a day i.e. in the morning, noon and nite. More importantly ensure your posts are of relevant quality contents. Try to post some pictorial quotes once in a while with an open-ended question to get some engagement. It does help. By the way, what’s your niche market?

your page looks great and really popular…..i would love to hear how you built it up so   well…
with that many fans maybe some dropping is   to be expected….
i really dont like contests and would delet a page with a lot of that….
maybe try and react to what they are liking …. and slow down on the things getting little response….. try the 80/20 system to   look at your   efforts….you can google it…..
do many in your field have lots of fans?
my page has grown a whole lot since may 2011….

@suchigoyal I checked out your fan page. You’re really not in bad shape, lots of engagement with your posts, lots of likes, etc.
Maybe spreading your posts out a little further apart so it’s not once every 2-3 hours might be a good idea so you don’t overload your fan’s feed. You could try cutting back to 3 posts a day to see if it slows the “un-liking” of your page.
You could also look to see what is being posted on the days you see a lot of people dropping. It could be content.
Check your analytics and see if there is any correlation to the time people are un-liking your page and the content posted, time of day, how many active posts you have, etc.

Also since you have such a huge fan base, @suchigoyal losing 4-5/day could be conceivable for fake profiles. I also agree that 4 posts a day is not too large. But it could be for some and if that’s the case then it’s ok that they are leaving.

Thanks friends for such an overwhelming response. I post after a gap or 2-3 hours hence 4 posts a day. @Andrea Vahl I am losing atleast 20+ fans in a day or maybe 50 sometimes.
Other pages on entertainment and Bollywood have a fan base of 10 million even.
https://www.facebook.com/page4bollywood check this one and their 40,420 talking about this. What different they are doing and which i am missing?

@Nichole Schlecht how to check all this data in GA? Also now i don’t remember the exact dates on which i lost more fans. Is there a method to check my statistics from facebook insights? Can FB insights help me?
