Must have Apps & Tools for facebook pages! (29 posts)

  • I’m interested to know what are the must have apps & tools for pages on fb to increase the interaction with your fans & friends?

  • Increased interaction will come from YOU when you post content that you Target audience wants.  The tools you use will depend on what your TA is.  If you are a speaker, slideshare would be a good one so you can post your slides…if you are an author maybe the bookshelf of your books or a custom tab that brings in Amazon reviews.  I hope that helps to give you ideas. :-)

  • ShortStack is a GREAT tool for adding pages and customizing your fb page

Assistly is a great tool to help mange the information and communication flow of fb, twitter and email all in one interface

  • @hemantpatil great question, Hemant. I am going to help a newbie friend set up a fb page and I am wondering what basics I should start with.

  • @juleswebb  @rebecca  Thanks for your suggestions.
@deairby yes I’m a newbie & am greatful to you for offering help.I have a client who’s a politician by profession, I’m managing his social media campaign. Strategies & planning are all there in place. I’d be happy to know if there are apps or tools which would be helpful to boost the interaction with his followers or supporters? Like for instance conducting poll on fb or to peek volunteer of the week! kinda same!

  • I do my own custom HTML coding on FB.  I feel that I owe it to my clients that are paying me for the service to do my own and not go through an app for that.  I do tell them to monitor their pages and twitter accounts through HootSuite.  It is a great tool to use!

  • @rebecca @hemantpatil I recently discovered Hootsuite and love it. Rebecca, wish I knew as much as you to be able to create my own, but that’s why people like me need people like you! You go, girl.

  • @hemantpatil Great thread. I like Pagemodo. The app that forwards my status updates from Facebook to Twitter has been failing me lately, so I’m not going to recommend that. If anyone knows of an app that works well consistently, I’d love to know.

  • We are app developers.
We have created a suite of 11 apps that people can use likeourbusiness.com
We are also building and will be launching soon a Facebook app platform for agencies https://www.facebook.com/bleapp
The other cool thing we do is to create custom apps for multiple pages, great for manufacturers or companies that sell products or services thru agents, dealers, resellers, etc.  Real estate agents, etc.

  • Hootsuite is a favorite of mine for managing & scheduling postings on multiple pages.

  • @jgassistance it is really not a good idea to forward updates from one to the other..if you have the same people on both lists they will be bored or less engaged with you and could unfollow one or both networks…  I recommend to my clients that they create different updates for each…takes a little more effort but the reward can be way better (ROI)!

  • @rebecca I appreciate your input, but it doesn’t apply in my case. Though I am just getting started with Twitter, I don’t have the same people on both lists and forwarding my updates has increased my followers and website traffic. But, again, thanks for your input.

  • Awesome!

  • A great tool that I have recently come across and am now using is http://www.lujure.com This tool allows you to create great looking Facebook Fanpages and add numerous tabs with custom content, including content from your own website. It quickly provides the ability to sell your products and services directly through Facebook as well. Definitely worth a look.

  • I have been using Hootsuite too and I really like it.  It allows you to schedule your tweets which is such a great feature when making the commitment to spend a specific amount of time each day on your social media.  Hootsuite makes it easy to send your your tweets and posts throughout the day/week and to shrink your URL’s all at one time and lots more.

  • @rebecca Thank ypu for valuable your inputs. I’ll consider your idea of doing it my own. thanks.

@deairby @katiecavanaugh yeah Hootsuite’s a nice option for managing social accounts. TweetDeck’s also very good when it comes to managing accounts @ a time!
    @markpalmer I like “lujure” too.

  • I recently came across some of the coolest apps – Appbistro, MiproApps & TabFusion.

  • @hermantpatil it is easy if you know HTML.  If you have a drag and drop html editor, just as easy. If you need help, let me know…

  • I have tried to create a forum inside my Facebook page. I used the Static HTML app and I created a mini-forum at  http://tal.ki/ . You don’t need to set-up anything, just copy the code in the Static HTML app and you’ve got yourself a forum inside Facebook.

Anyone who’s used kind of the same way to create a forum? I know the Wall is also out there, but that’s not working for some companies. And what about this way of forum? You can take a look at the Mini-forum at the Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/clickq?sk=app_128953167177144

  • I often use appbistro to “see what’s out there”, but I use shortstack on a daily basis, it is easy to use and the customer service is amazing. I have used lujure as well as a few others, but found shortstack to have all of the pieces others were missing.
    Good luck!

  • @hemantpatil, I would like to suggest that you look at http://www.SocialStage.com. for a suite of apps that create a website in your Facebook Page.  All the apps work together like a website so you can either pick and chose the apps you want (like pages for each website page) and then they all work together with a top-level menu navigation and create the website in your FB Page.

There are also pre-create “app-suites” that are like pre-created templates for specific industries that you can customize.

Thanks for allowing me to share my company.  I hope it wasn’t spammy but it seemed like a relevant answer to your question. If anyone is interested, I will be glad to help you with it.  I am the CEO of the company.  Thanks!

  • @brandonlee Thank you for your generosity to share your stuff which is helpful. I visited your site & itz great. thanks.

  • For me it’s our Twitter App, Contact Form App and LinkedIn (not our creation)

    http://inlinevision.com/apps/

We have free versions of both but also have paid versions that allow you to customize the look with your logo, different colors and information and links…

You can see them in action on my FB page – http://facebook.com/inlinevision

  • Hi Hemant,
I would suggest HootSuite, the PRO edition gives you pretty much everything you need to give your campaign a flow in terms of managing and researching your channels. That said I have to admit that it also depends on your needs as HootSuite is in fact powerful but there are some really big tools out there which even improve the functionality and the insights you gain. But those tools are very pricy.
I don’t recommend using an auto-publish tool to update all your networks with the same message. Try to be unique across different platforms. Example: A hashtag in your status update from twitter does not work on Facebook ;-)
About Facebook apps or app provider, it depends on what you try to build. Is it just a fan-gate, code it by yourself and host it at with your customer. Most customers feel great in owning their “bought service” so they have the control about their page.
There are many app provider out there with a hosted solution but I remember there is also a script for hosting your own application server to offer those service to your customer via Wordpress.
    Cheers
    Nick

  • For a Facebook page a “Welcome Page” is a terrific thing to have. Also, if you have product to sell using a Facebook store front app can prove to be very useful and a great selling tool!

  • I use the free welcome page app by PageModo and a free store front app called Payvment. Both are great! And Free! I suggest them hands down!

  • Greetings @sgsrecording, I think tha was excellent suggestions. It’s easy to use & looks great. Thanks.
    @nickrock I’ve already started using HootSuite, & I got hooked-up by it’s functionality. Cool.

  • @rebecca I completely agree with Rebecca. I have moved away from using posting “forwarding” and instead utilize HootSuite or I use different messaging to direct to the same page or information. The links can be confusing in the forwards and sometimes end up broken.

  • @hemantpatil I am also a strong advocate for HootSuite. If you have Google+ pages set up as well then HootSuite is hopefully going to be adding this integration for all users very soon. Currently only the Enterprise users have this functionality but you can join the list for notification when it becomes available. I personally use HootSuite Pro and find the functionality very simple and the dashboard easy to navigate and post from.
