More locations (fb places) and check-in deals? (3 posts)

  • Hi guys.

I have two questions. First one is about facebook places. Does anyone know if it is possible that pages or places have more than one place in one place? I found example here https://www.facebook.com/Macys?sk=locations - is this just for big facebook customers?

Second one is about deals. I find out that facebook stop that project. But then i found out that check-in deals are still on! https://www.facebook.com/deals/checkin/ But I don’t know for which countries is enabled? Does anyone known when this feature will be avalible for all of us?

  • @leopoldpanovi  Hi there, First question: That option is available to everyone – what Macys did was setup a page for each of its store as a place and then on their main page built an app (or found one) that has a google map in it. When I go to Macys page/locatons I am told that there are no Macys around me (closest one is 200 miles away) but if I move the map around to Las Vegas I get them listed.  Also you can look at his page for an example of how they did it… https://www.facebook.com/Schlotzskys

2nd question: Deals are still available in the US – what they took away was ‘check ins’ where they were keeping track of how many people ‘checked in’ to your place if I remember right.
To claim a deal a person checks in at your location and gets the deal. You can check out https://www.facebook.com/uptownscoops to see how I use it at my ice cream store ;-)
Hope that helps, have a great day!! Eden R

  • Actually,  @edenrudin, the app that Macy’s has isn’t available to everyone yet.  That is actually a true multi-place Page where all the Macy’s Place checkins are aggregated into the one Macy’s Facebook Page.  So the Places show up on the phone but Macy’s doesn’t have to have a separate Facebook Page for every one of its stores.  I don’t know when this will be available to everyone,  @leopoldpanovi – so far it’s just big brands like Macy’s and Starbucks that can use it.

The Schlotzsky’s app that you referenced, Eden, is available to everyone so that people can see your different locations.  It’s a good alternative while we wait for the multi-place page to be available.

The second question is a brand new feature just being tested by 6 stores called the Facebook Offer.  It’s been going really well from what I’ve seen and I’m excited to find out when that will be widely available.  The Checkin deal is a good alternative for the moment but the Facebook Offer looks very cool because it grabs the e-mail address and shows up in the News Feed very prominently when someone takes advantage of the offer.
