Milestones in Facebook Timeline (7 posts)

  • I was under the impression that when creating milestones you could enter the actual year/month/day. Here’s an example of what I envisioned:  http://www.facebook.com/delcoronado

I wanted to tell the story of a family business which started in 1967… I can only choose the current year, and then when I checked at work I can choose from the last three years.  Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance everyone!

  • I figured it out!  If you go to the Basic Information settings, you need to change the ‘Start Date’ to when the business was founded and then you will be able to select the appropriate ‘timeframe’ as you build your timeline’s story.

Wow, maybe I am more than just an Adventurer, perhaps an Explorer?  lol

I was about to enter that you must have a Start/Founded/Launched Date prior to adding previous milestones. As a forewarning you cannot put anything BEFORE that date populated so you will want to have more than the “year” if there are events needing to be logged further back.

  • @alexandrabriggs I did have a founded date, but it was the date that the Facebook page was created, not the date that the family business started operating. The problem I’m facing now is that the page is for a particular product and I want to tell the story of how the family business created this product (amazing organic olive oil) over the years.

Thanks so much for your feedback – super appreciated!

  • @wendievan I ran into a similar issue with one of the pages I manage. It is for a specific nursing program that launched after the University had been going for a while and then the College of Nursing was developed, and then this specific program came to be. I decided to use the College of Nursing FOUNDED date and included the note of it being the college of nursing launch and what they offered. Then I had a specific milestone that was relevant to the campaign. Perhaps this approach could help? It will allow you to have more milestones to reflect the overall journey.

  • @alexandrabriggs – The page is for the olive oil which was ‘launched’ in 2012, but I want to tell the story of how it came to be, and the family business was ‘founded’ in 1967. I’m working on the page this weekend and will try your suggestion, I hope I can tell a sweet, successful story that will be informative and engaging.  If it doesn’t work, I will at least have some delicious organic olive oil and fresh bread.  LOL – so appreciate your help and these networking clubs!  Cheers!

  • @wendievan Add a glass of vino to that mix and you will be set!
