Metric Goals for Insights (Reach and People Talking) (5 posts)

  • I’ve been looking for a while and cannot seem to find any real hard data on what a Page’s goals should be for % of total likes actually Talking About This or % of Friends of Fans actually Reached. There may not be solid goals, but it would be great to know where others are landing. My business page has just under 60k fans and was seeing very little activity and poorly managed just a couple of weeks ago. We are up significantly (over 100% increase in reach and over 200% increase in people talking) in the last 2 weeks due to better management, but aren’t sure what our goals should be or if we are still below industry standard. How do you measure your success?

  • @chrislay Hi Chris

I have been looking at the Talking About This Percentage (or TAT%) for a while now and I can tell you that most “sexy” large corps only ever get about 0.6% on this score. Yes, that’s right, less than 1%.
For smaller pages, I would be looking at 5% being a good starting measure and anything over 10% being good. That’s consistently mind you.
I usually keep a running spreadsheet of that stat as I like to measure it over time and you can easily see trends then as well.
Let me know if I can help any further. :)

  • Thanks @russellallert, I’ll see how we compare to that and build some goals to get there!

  • @chrislay at Crowd Smart Media we believe that as long as the percentage is going up your in good standing, the ultimate goal is to have 100%. As long as your actively trying to improve the quality of the community even if its only little by little your moving forward. It’s when the percent starts to go down that you need to stop and rethink your strategy. When setting goals the important thing to remember is tracking your success, like benchmarks. Mostly because you never know what insights you might not be able to see a few months down the road.

  • @chrislay  Thanks, Chris. Let me know how you go!

@ashleyhyde Nice addition, Ashley. This is why I recommend tracking over a few months at least so you can get a good idea of the trend.
