Local fan page promotion (7 posts)

  • I’m looking for ideas or marketing techniques that have worked for gaining fans on your page locally.  If there is already a post on this that would great too! Thanks!

  • @tracy-peterson-champagne I have a couple of suggestions that may help.

Post a lot of content about your local area,
Run an ad campaign targeting people who live locally
Drop flyers around the local area with “find us on Facebook” clearly visable.
Use word of mouth as much as possible.
Use a newspaper add with your Facebook Page address.
Have your Facebook Page address on your business card and give it out a much as possible.

However, I would like to know why you want people to fan you on Facebook rather than getting them into a sales funnel through a website……

  • I used targeted ad.  The ads were targeted to both our industry (golfers) and to the areas that our customers are normally found.  It worked well to build a base but if you have to hand a page off to someone, choose wisely!  Not all people are meant to run pages, no matter how often they are on Facebook.  That’s where I had trouble.

  • we are local and we started  by   sending  info to our  friends…. my daughter in law and  daughter  both had  tons of  friends most  active on  facebook,    and most of them   were interested in the  store  too…so  that worked..after that most of the connections   came  from  face to face  talk  in the store   and us using our   big database of  customers….and putting our facebook plugs  on  everything , all the paper reciepts  brochures etc    and  the  website etc etc… @tracy-peterson-champagne     in  short….start with your   real world  connections..

  • thanks, @iancampbell

Well building your fan page locally can lead to sales as well. Anyway you gain a follower either by social media or websites, is a plus. Some people may be more inclined to visit your fan page before actually checking out your website. From your fan page you can lead them to your site or visa versa. I do like the suggestion about posting about your local area. Thanks again!

  • @dedimason, thanks, targeted ads would be perfect for this. I had not thought of that and did not know how well they would work. Thanks for the suggestion :) I know what you me about handing your page off to someone. Have to be careful.

  • @annfurnivall  Yeah, those things you mention are probably the best way to get it started. I guess if you want local fans you have to promote more in face to face and in person in that area and then maybe add in local events on your page like   @iancampbell suggested. Thanks for all the great tips so far!
