I am diligently trying to build my “likes” on my page to build my audience. I am in the real estate business so am struggling with ideas. Any one in the industry have any ideas that they would like to share that have worked?

@dhines I would suggest to use Facebook Groups, join relevant groups on facebook, question, comment and answer there and thus you can build an identity over there. 1 – Write a white paper about you business with a compelling title, for example ” 10 things you should know about real estate” “The real secrets of real estate”…
2 – Promote the white paper (in you site, Twitter and facebook accounts”…)
3- Force user to “like ” you page before they can download the white paper.
4- Rinse an repeat, periodically

Are you looking for quality or quantity? If quality, then what @moinshaikh, @albertmora, and @warrenveach have said.
If you are looking for quantity, which has some value in driving the perception of your page, then you want to look for “like ladders.” These are pages where I like you and you like me. I used SMALL BUSINESS ROOM for awhile to get some traction. I also have gotten some business from these likes as well since they are other small business owners.
