Like Button (12 posts)

  • Quick question: is it possible to add the Facebook like button to an enewsletter?

I have not come across this before so I suspect that you can’t add the like button plug-in to a newsletter but one of my clients was interested in this functionality, so I thought “where better to find out” but on the new SME Netowrking Clubs forum.

Any advice in this area would be greatly appreciated!

  • If you can design your own template with html you should be able to do it.

  • Thanks Susan, I am a non-techie so HTML is not my thing but I can ask the web company I use if they can do this for my client.

Is is the standard code you get from the facebook/developer platform?

I wonder why more people don’t do this if it is possible, because it sounds like a good idea?

    Regards

  • Hey there Alan! I use several email vendors and some of them have that ability built right in. In fact, Constant Contact has a lot of “built-in” social media tools.

Might be worth looking into, at least (sure makes everything simple – and if you’re like me, simple is good!  : )

    Warmly, Carmen

  • @chatmarketing – the Like button cannot be embedded into an actual e-mail but many e-newsletters are delivered more through a website where when people click on it they are taken to a website newsletter.  Constant Contact has this capability and some others.

  • Thanks very much Andrea, Susan and Carmen. Good information! @andrea-vahl @penworth and @susannstjernborg

  • @chatmarketing
Nothing big task mate, just make your e newsletter in html, go to facebook developer page, get the like code and embed it into your newsletter html code and you’re done!! On how to get and embed code for like button you can click here, in url to like box enter your facebook page url and hit the get code button, that’s all!

  • @andrea-vhal, @Moin Thanks for sharing those really helpful tips on how to embed a facebook like button into your newsletter. @Carmen, thanks for letting me know to check and see if my email vendor supports social media buttons.

  • This is a useful thread. I have a “let’s back up” question with regard to Constant Contact. First time that I’ve heard of this. Can you do e-newsletters through Constant Contact?

    Thanks.

  • Yes you can do e-newsletters through Constant Contact.  It has a nice layout editor that helps you design your e-newsletter or use one of their tempaltes.

  • Caroline, I will have to check Constant Contact out! Thanks!

  • @brianjohns Alspo check out mail-chimp too. They have a free version. Not quite as sophisticated as Constant Contact but then they do have a premium version too that allows you to do a lot more.

Also, thanks to everyone for the great advice in this thread.

    Hope this helps!
