Issues uploading contacts from Yahoo (5 posts)

    Hello,

    I downloaded my linkedin contacts to yahoo mail, and tried uploading them to Facebook. And I get the error message from Facebook

    Contact Importer Error Sorry, we ran into an unexpected error. Please try again.

    Can someone help? I can’t upload from the .csv file either from outlook. There’s only 800 or so contacts. Any help? Thanks!

    I have never been able to get the Contacts thing on Facebook to work properly -@nationwideappraisalnetwork  It has so many bugs and really I discourage anyone from doing that.  I had one client do it and it sent out 7 messages to each of their contacts and really irritated them.  I would send a separate e-mail to people yourself to ask them to Like your Page.  Or invite your personal Facebook friends to Like your Page.  
    Anyone else ever have luck with uploading contacts?

    Hi @nationwideappraisalnetwork, if you have an email marketing platform (e.g. mailchimp), you can upload the .csv file there, and then send an email to all of them telling them to like your page.

    Here’s the reality of that… not everyone of them will respond to the request, and also not all the emails will get opened or seen in their inbox. So, it will be a steady flow of follow up emails, but in a non pushy way.

    I have a Yahoo mail account that I never use. Every time I tried to do anything more advanced like import and export contacts…unsuccessful. Gmail has become my favorite platform by far. Used to manage a mid sized company that ditched exchange in favor of Google apps and I did the transition for them.

    Regarding importing contacts though, make sure you ask for an opt in and I think you should always use something like iContact or Aweber, etc. so you can incorporate the can-spam opt-out clause at the bottom. I’ve administered Infusionsoft, which I love but, too rich for small companies. I use iContact now.
