Is This Welcomed By Facebook (5 posts)

  • Can you help as I am trying to get to grips with what you can and cannot do with Facebook.

If I have a website about dogs can I do the following -

Start 10, 15 or 20 pages each one about a different breed of dog and point the links or posts on each page at the one dog website.

Is this what people call spamming or is this effective use of the pages and welcomed by Facebook.

It’s not spamming for me as each breed have their own following but will Facebook see it the same way.

  • No that’s fine and the dog niche is an excellent one for building fan pages.

  • but you may want to send the links to landing pages about each bread as well???

But ok to send all to same site

  • That is ok to do, @david-easter but my question is why?  Is it just for link building?  Facebook is a no-follow site so they won’t do anything for you and if you don’t spend time building these Facebook Pages up, you are wasting your time.

I would suggest building a page for each bread that is very focused and has content that is very shareable.  Pet pages can grow very fast so it’s worthwhile if you spend some time on them.

  • Scott @scottlinklater thanks for confirming that it’s OK to have all these pages and I will point the links at the individual breed as well.

Andrea @andrea-vahl it’s not for link building it’s for traffic. I think someone with a Labrador will take more notice of a page about Labrador’s than they would about a page about dogs. I take your point about all the work involved.
Thank you both for your help.
