Is anyone using Snagit? (22 posts)

  • In Mari Smith’s latest Webinar she mentioned Snagit. Is anyone using it? Your experiences or thoughts? How techie do you need to be?
    Thanks
    Kathy

  • I am using the Jing Pro version that is no longer available, but was the less expensive option to Snagit.  Apparently once Jing Pro is “gone” I will be able to “upgrade” to Snagit.  If it is as simple to use as Jing Pro, it should be great.  There is a free 30 day trial, what can you lose if you try it??

  • @kathyweir Kathy, been using it for years. Easy to use screen capture tool. It’s always been my backup tool when free tools don’t quite work in times of need.  You can literally capture anything on the screen.  Small investment, but personally the costs have been repaid many times over.
Google ‘snagit’ and you’ll find their site by TechSmith.

  • I recently purchased Snagit and love it.  It’s very easy.  Ever since Picnik went away I’ve found it great for not only screen capture, but re-sizing images, making buttons, cropping etc.  I had Jing before but this combines several different functions and makes it well worth the small price to upgrade.

  • @kathyweir I love Snagit!!!  I love it so much I might marry it.  :)  I use it every day but my business requires a lot of screenshots.  It’s really affordable for all it does as  @rebeccaolkowski said.

  • Yes Kathy, I am using it all the time. It is easy to use and gives great results. I use screenshots for posts, presentations and ebooks. You can easily add arrows, bullets, text to your screenshot, add a border or shade. I have the Mac and Win version. I like the Mac version a little bit better.

  • @kathyweir
I just started using Snagit and looking forward to what it can do for me. I can build a ot of the graphics I need and screenshots are so helpful.

  • I love this group! There is no better validation of a product than happy users. I think we call it social proof :) Appreciate all your input @rebeccacohen, @ernohannink, @andrea-vahl, @rebeccaolkowski, @danielmckean and @deereinhardt

I noticed it’s in the App store, now I need to load up my pile of iTunes cards.

    Thanks everyone
    Kathy

  • No I do not. I use Fast Stone but I also have another free one MW Snap Super Screen capture for free.  And a lot of other free software- virus free.  What does snagit do that other products do not do?

  • Snagit and most tools from TechSmith are worth the price

  • @kathyweir  I use the free version of Jing and I love it. It’s not that intuitive so watch the videos.

  • @kathyweir
I will check it out, Kathy.
    Thanks,
    Rebecca

  •  @kathyweir I have also used the free version of Jing and have found this works great for day to day use capturing screenshots or recording video with some prettty neat quick to edit features when capturing images :) . As a free option definitely worth it

  • @ravishukle Thanks for your input, appreciate it.

  • This is the best value tool I ever bought. A few small dollars but so much use. And I have spent thousands on software, most of which I still use,

  • @abigailgorton

Thanks for your input, I am going to purchase Snagit. I need to put together social media classes for cruises and there will be no WiFi access so I have to go with screen shots and I figured this would be the best way.

    @andrea-vahl

We may want to start a discussion about the best tools to use for social media or is there one already in progress,

  • Yes, I love it and it makes for easy posting. Picture do better in Facebook than text.

  • I too love Snagit–especially for capturing as the page rolls (getting more than a normal screenshot can get a picture of). That probably doesn’t make much sense, but Snagit users will understand. I hear a new version is coming out soon.

  • @roadturn Sounds like the software is an overall winner. Appreciate everyone’s input.

  • @kathyweir never heard of it quite frankly
