Invite email contacts on FB – Doesn’t work? Please help. (12 posts)

Topic tags: email, friends import
  • Hi,

So I have spent about 3 hours now trying different browsers, different file types i.e. .csv, .txt, etc and have tried uploading – previewing – sending several times.

No email invitations/suggestions have gone out.

I have trawled through Google and stupid, stupid forums, Facebook community pages and help pages which all lead nowhere.

Anyone? Please this is a super important function and I’m sure someone has an answer on here being a social media forum.

This is all about connecting with your audience, sharing your social media pages with them, what we’re here for…

Does this feature of FB actually work?

    Anyone?

Otherwise I will go and create a mass group email with my contact database which, is much easier.

    Thank you.

  • @andrea-vahl Any answers here Andrea…

  • This feature hardly ever works right, @arty – I never recommend doing it.  A lot of times it mails your friends 3-7 e-mails and really irritates them.  You are better off e-mailing the link to your Page on your own.  The “Invite Friends” feature does work.  You just need to navigate to your Page as your personal profile (or toggle back to it under the Manage button) and then under Build Audience you will be able to select Invite Friends and your Facebook Friends will come up.

    Hope that helps!

Hardly ever? I think actually never. Can we please confirm this? This is a MAJOR problem on FB as some people going around saying “sometimes” actually keeps the rest of us in suspense wondering and wasting about 5 hours of time because Facebook – and a few people – have got it wrong.

I am on the email list, I’ve sent it out at least 6 times now. I have never received any emails, in any of my associated, or non-associated accounts.

This whole thing is extremely frustrating and a massive falacy.

Should be more material on this out there.

I can invite my friends to like pages using a javascript to select all no problems.

Works in all browsers, unlike what some idiots say out there, and actually gets sent through.

I’m more interested in inviting email contacts now, and not just my own, but databases as this is essentially what we do.

Anyways, thanks for the help, if you have ever got this to work please do let me know. And specifically how would be great.

    Yours,

  • @arty Same here! Never worked!!!

  • @moinshaikh

    Amazing isn’t it.

FB collects emails to use, advertising that you can do something which you clearly can’t, then dumps you, without help, up-to-date information, or fully functioning software.

    Amazing.

Even more amazing is that once FB have decided to do this, they sit back and watch – as i just have for the past 5 hours, a bunch of people fall over themselves trying to explain ways of things possibly…maybe…kind of working…in their won blogs over and over which all…leads nowhere.

I am amazed I really am.

Maybe i should create a YouTube video like everyone else.

A funny one saying how I don’t know how to do something but will certainly try.

  • I sometimes can’t wait for another product to come out and replace/compete with Facebook. It has to happen.

And Facebook sucks. It really, really does in sooo many ways.

Crashing constantly, advertising things that aren’t true, using us for data, no recourse or help/feedback on anything…money for nothing. List goes on.

    Cant wait.

  • @arty Agree :(

  • Why spend so much time on this at all @arty?  Why not just send an e-mail the traditional way?  If you have a large list, you should have some e-mail program like Mailchimp or Aweber that can easily e-mail your Facebook Page address to everyone.

I am sorry that you seem to be upset with my answer.  I am trying to help.  And I don’t know everything that happens on Facebook – I mostly hear when things go wrong.  So I don’t have examples of people who have completed this successfully and the exact steps they took.  I have only known people who have imported there e-mail list and then it either doesn’t work at all or sends multiple e-mails to every person.  Neither of which is the outcome you want.

  • @andrea-vahl

it’s ok Andrea, I’m just grumpy, and this silly thing doesn’t work.

    Facebook, grr.

Your answers are great, thank you for helping.

I just hope other people read this and don’t waste their time on it, yep another email program is needed here. Off I go again.

  • No worries @arty – I agree Facebook is completely frustrating sometimes and they should just remove the “feature” since it doesn’t work.

  • i was  thinking  today how  devestated i would  be  if   facebook   dissappeared… its  such a  good  thing  for us…. even if  so much is   just   so  hard  to  get…and then it  changes… @arty there is a lot of  great  stuff for a business,  and its almost  free…maybe  try and think  more organic….
