  • Hi

My name is Loren Bartley and I am the Director of Impactiv8, offering social media solutions for small businesses. I live in Melbourne, Australia.

I have spent the the better part of two decades working with various small to medium sized businesses in a variety of roles, including managing several small office environments. I understand first-hand the resource constraints that small businesses face and the potential power that social media has to overcome those constraints, provided you have someone on board that knows what they are doing.

I have had extensive hands-on experience successfully developing, implementing, managing and monitoring social media campaign in business on a daily basis to increase brand awareness, make positive connections, engage customers, support customer service efforts and ultimately drive sales.

My knowledge comes from my hands on experience, combined with my avid reading, webinaring (not sure that is even a word), podcasting, learning and playing with the various social media platforms and tools. This has enabled me to developed a wealth of knowledge and resources that focus on what works, what doesn’t, best tools and loads of tips that go beyond the practical “how to” and incorporate strategy and best practice advice specific to utilising social media within small businesses.

I recognise a need for someone with my knowledge and skills to work with small businesses, cutting through the clutter of information that exists and assisting them to utilise social media as an integrated part of their business to achieve their business objectives.

Whilst my passion has always been sport, active recreation and a healthy lifestyle, I am still a geek at heart. I am an early adopter, a planner, an organiser, a creator, an educator, a blogger and most importantly a doer! I pride myself on the fact that I set high goals for myself and achieve them, facilitating others in the process to achieve more than they ever felt possible. I am a social person (both on and off-line) and get a real kick out of providing true value to others.
You can find me on most social media platforms as Impactiv8, but here are the direct links:

I look forward to interacting via this platform.

    Loren

  • Greetings,

First off: what a great site! SME is hands-down the best resource on the internet to learn about implementing all channels of social media.  I have certainly learned a lot just by minding my email notifications.

I’m at work in a business which is just developing its outreach to general consumer marketplaces. Social media is my primary tool to both reach new consumers and to engender public support & garner recommendations from the wide range of individuals who already utilize my company’s products (military personnel, law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMS).  Even after a year of experimentation with the new mediums, I’m absolutely still learning and clearly have a lot of ground yet to cover!

My goals this year include building a Twitter following & network, developing a two-pronged video marketing vehicle featuring product tutorials and a live-action “edutainment” series, and more.  My hope is that through participating with the SME Facebook group, I might be able to provide insight to others starting from ground-level with social media and glean some of the wisdom coming from experience archived by SME’s many subscribing social media mavens.

    My (youthful) social media channels:

To success (and hopefully plenty of fun along the way),

    Ari

  • Hi everyone, I’m Marcin from London. It’s great to be here and I’m looking forward for interesting conversations around Social Media. It’s seems like that forum will be lively updated and I’m happy to help with that.

I’m currently SEO Manager & Senior Marketing Team Leader at Kaplan HQ in London. I have to admit that SEO is still a bottom line of our business, but my focus is moving towards SocialMedia & Global Marketing campaigns as they are getting more and more related to each other.

One of my projects was a successful International Facebook Campaign for travel-education B2C company, Kaplan. From idea to finish line I was a leading person in that project. In 4 weeks competition we generated positive branding buzz in 5 languages (English, French, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese – Brazil). Campaign engaged with over 25k people who become our new fans on Facebook. Campaign also resulted in big impact on future e-mail marketing campaigns as in we also acquired over 13k emails of prospects in our target demographics. English version ( http://www.facebook.com/kic ) saw biggest increase in all campaign objectives. Campaign involved test and control marketing tactics, as I tested similar campaign in Poland. First campaign reached over 9k people in our target audience in 4 weeks. Results also included: 8k marketing leads (email address) which are will be used in upcoming campaigns, increase in brand searches, and beginning of loyal and active community on Facebook.

    I’m soon planning to start a blog around International Social Media, so stay tuned @ twitter.com/marcinchirowski / LinkedIn > linkedin.com/in/chirowski / Facebook > facebook.com/chirowski ) or Google+

    Thanks, Marcin

  • I love threads like this because there is so much wonderful information in them… and I love others who are like-minded…  solopreneurs, and entrepreneurs… :)

I am Stacy Harp and 7 years ago I formed a company called Active Christian Media, which started as a way to promote books through the blogosphere through book reviews and a podcast interview for the author, and since then it has evolved into a social media site, radio show and place where I can share information about faith, social media and technology, mental health issues (as I’m a clinically trained marriage and family therapist), publishing and marketing and sometimes the controversial aspect of news and politics.

My main site is http://www.activechristianmedia.com and Facebook page is http://www.facebook.com/activechristianmedia  and radio show, which really is one of the core things I do, is at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/acmedia – we have about 4000 downloads a month and are hoping to grow the show….

I look forward to learning more about you all and seeing how we can help each other.  Blessings!

  • Hi everyone,

I’m a dad (boy and a girl) and married for almost 10 years. I live in the Netherlands and connect daily with the rest of the online world via social platforms like Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google+, YouTube and very recently Pinterest.

I’m a solo-preneur – guiding mostly small businesses with online marketing to improve their visibility on the social web.

I also work as contributing writer for Facebook and Business. Now, part of the world’s 4 largest business magazines exclusively for business people.

I recently started to work as Mari Smith’s Chief Facebook Moderator for her main fan page. As you all know, Facebook is rapidly changing with rolling out new Facebook functionality at a remarkably pace. I,m sure a lot of peeps are awaiting the revealing of Timeline for pages.  As Mari’s moderator I have the privilege of receiving all kinds of questions from Facebook users each day. This helps me understand the most challenging parts of Facebook and keeps me up-to-date as well. :) Hope to learn a lot here and share my Facebook knowledge with you all.

For the past two years I’ve been working exclusively at Northwest Technical Institute (NTI), a small college in Eagan, Minnesota, as the Media Specialist.  My role involves the website management, SEO, on-line marketing, social media… so I’ll probably join other SME clubs.
We are a small school but want to keep up-to-date!  Thanks for helping.http://www.facebook.com/Northwest.Technical.Institute

  • Hello SMEs

My name is Alan and I run vacation rental sites. This site (http://www.webvillarentals.com) is an ‘umbrella’ site for rentals all over the world. Anyone wants to like my facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/webvr) – I would be grateful and happy to reciprocate!  Now Google has its up and coming social media site I want to be in ‘on the ground floor’ so to speak so would be happy for +1s here as well (will reciprocate here too!).  I think as time goes on Google will give higher rankings to those sites that have embraced this media.

I also have an advice site for those looking to buy a vacation home in Florida as well as other rental sites specifically related to vacation homes near Disney World (but no facebook pages for them) but I do have Twitter accounts and Google + pages.  The main ‘Disney’ rental site being:

    http://www.rentalhomesneardisneyworld.com.

Likewise, happy to reciprocate a twitter following!

I am trying my hardest to embrace social media but have lots to learn to try and maximise its power!  I am looking forward to reading others advice, exploits and successes in this field.

  • Hey all!  I’m actually on here twice by mistake!  My Facebook signon gave me a separate logon than if I use a unique password; anyone know how to consolidate two accounts?

Anyway, my two entities are Cut and Paste Design and GPE Companies.

Cut and Paste Design is my freelance company where I am your one stop shop for graphic design, web design, fine art photography and now printing!  Check out my FB page at http://www.facebook.com/cutandpastedesign.  Or my website (that REALLY needs redesigning!) at http://www.cutandpastedesign.com.

My “day job” is Marketing Coordinator at GPE Companies, a commercial real estate brokerage firm in Phoenix.  We can be found at http://www.gpe1.com and on FB at http://www.gpe1.com/facebook.

Glad to chat with everyone here, very excited to learn some new tips!

  • Hi, my name is Chrissa and not long ago had a goal to live generously, work from anywhere and always wear great shoes…., after a lengthy discussion with my personal favorite author—Dr Seuss, I decided to take his advice and “be who I am and say what I feel because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind!”

As a result, I have combined my creative, marketing and financial backgrounds to develop online branding and revenue generating websites for niche experts.  I specialize in simplifying the complex.  To provide a visual; I translate Ivy League research and information so even a 5th grader can engage, enjoy and understand!   My current big project is working with the Vet who was the Doc to the 9/11 Search and Rescue dogs.  http://www.workingdogsonly.com will be launching soon.

I am here to learn, to share and take it all in.

    Cheers!

  • Very nice community here, and I’m excited to get to know more of you.

I’ve been online since 1995 and have had my hand in more online ventures than I care to admit, but graphic/web design had always been a passion of mine. I finished my Associates degree in visual communication last June, and after several jobs in the web development field I decided to take a chance and go solo.

Being a recent grad doesn’t mean I have little experience, I have been doing design work and web development since late ’95. I went after the degree to hone my skills and become more marketable.

My main website can be found here – http://prockstar.com

I have recently decided to re-brand myself in the Social Media market. I was an early adopter on Twitter and Facebook and look forward to helping businesses navigate the social web.

I hesitated with introducing myself because I have yet to finish my re-branded Facebook page and website, but I can see a great community here and am anxious to get involved.

    My newest Facebook page …
http://www.facebook.com/pages/ProckStar-Social/344546118901830 (warning, I haven’t promoted it to anyone yet, but look forward to passing that first 25 like mark to obtain my vanity URL )

Glad to be here … Scott

  • Hi, I am Leena from India. I work for a service provider in their in-house SEO team. I have been seeing first-hand the impact of SEO and specifically that of social media. I am here to sharpen my tools and share what experience I have. I want to one day start my own business by which time I know I’ll be well versed in social media marketing theoretically at least and practically to a certain extent! Even otherwise, I have these clubs to come to for reference and guidance.

I will update this post with links to my Fan page as soon as I have my business online!

  • Hi All

  • Hi everyone!

So glad to be here.  My name is Rebecca (or Becky) Turkovics.  I am the Social Media Administrator by day for a company that I am trying to drag kicking and screaming into the new millennium.  lol By night I am co owner with my husband of Social Kool Kats.  We are just starting our own business and I am open to any advice and learning I can get my hands on.  I signed up today for my second Social Media Summit and can’t wait.

  • First, I want to thank SME for this platform! I look forward to all I will learn here.

While creating a Facebook page for the music instrument store I managed, I became interested in social media. Having been laid off several months ago, I am now in the process of creating my own sources of income. I am an artist and photographer, and that is what my pages are geared toward. In my process I talked with small business owners in my rural area, and discovered a need for assistance in social networking. I have taken a new direction as a social media entrepreneur! While virtual world is not developed, my physical world is building rapidly. I’m glad to share so you can follow from the ground up, if you like.

  • Hi Y’all, from winter-less Florida (we didn’t have even a week this year). After reading about everyone I feel just a tad out of my league. I’m an engineer during the day (30 years), but a jewelry designer & fabricator evenings and weekends. I only found this “calling” in 2009, so I’m new to this. I’m so excited to find others with whom to talk about things. I’ve read and read and read up on Social Media, Facebook, Etsy (where I sell.) I’ve had a personal website since 1996, nothing at all like I’m experiencing now.

SocialMediaExaminer has come up more than once, actually nearly 100 times in the various books I’ve been reading. Upon reading about y’all individually, I think I’ll learn a great deal here! I am already appreciative of y’all. For those of y’all on the solutions side of things and those too needing (like me to learn) THANKS! ;-) The bottom line is that I need you guys (north-eastern for “y’all”) far more than you need me!!!!

I design and make jewelry, with my most popular being upcycled jigsaw puzzle pieces. I use precious (silver & gold) & base (brass & copper) metals, but mostly sterling (.925) and fine (.999) silver and semi-precious stones (garnet, opal, etc.)

Thank y’all for being open to letting me join!

  • Hey, I am Somesh. I head Dubai operations of Gozoop.com, a social media agency. I help clients here get maximum out of social media, and I love to contribute to this social media world in my own little way. SMExaminer has been a great help to me. Have learnt and discovered a lot by following them for almost 2 years.

Would love to connect with you all on Twitter,  I am @isomesh on Twitter.

  • Hello everybody! Let me just say it’s great to be in such good company.

My latest business venture is YourLIME.com.

When I introduce myself at networking groups it’s funny, I’ll shake someone’s hand, smile and say, “Hi, I’m your LIME.” They usually look at me like I’m coo coo and say, “Pardon me?” Still smiling, I have to repeat myself: “I’m your LIME, your Local Internet Marketing Expert, Charlie Trankina, at your service!”

I came up with the acronym one day and decided to use it in what I thought would be a short and memorable url. That and localinternetmarketingexpert.com was already taken. Anyway I guarantee ya, the folks always seem to remember me when I make my follow-up call.

What can I say, I like to think outside of the inbox.

Visit me, Charles Trankina on Facebook.

Looking forward to a great experience here at SME’s Networking Clubs.

  • I am a musician, and I work for a record label called End Of The Light. I’m fairly new to the world of marketing, but have found that much of what I have done in the past has already been a form of marketing, just in promoting the bands I have worked with and worked for. Now, with working for EOTL, I am running their facebook and twitter pages, and I am also maintaining a blog that is published on the website. While our goal is to promote the bands on our label, we are also trying to turn the label itself into a brand.

I enjoy talking with others, and enjoy learning solutions to new challenges, so all in all, this is turning out to be a pretty fun experience and not just a job.

The blog can be found on the website, http://www.endofthelight.com on twitter it’s @EndOfTheLightCD and for facebook it’s http://facebook.com/endofthelight please don’t be afraid to say hi. I am usually on the facebook and twitter account frequently monday-friday, so far I find this site a very useful source for information, and look forward to conversing with others who feel the same, while learning and growing in the process.

  • Hey Everyone! I’ve been doing social media management and setups for over three years now. In the last year and a half I’ve also branched out into training. I have over 10 years programming experience which makes the setting up Custom Facebook a breeze and a ton of fun!I have recently gone full-time freelance and the transition was surprisingly easy. Although I am spending most of my time doing client work and building more business, I’m also working on a social media teaching course to sell online. I fell in love with teaching social media here recently when I was given the opportunity to teach several times within a couple of months. I am by no means where I want to be at in terms of teaching or clients, but I am getting there.I’m also an avid reader. My heart is really set on Fantasy novels, but I love to also read about social media.I am super-excited to be here and exchange ideas and knowledge with everyone. I think we can only all get better if we work together.Oh, and if you’re interested, my blog and website are here. :)

In 2009 I started a German Travel Portal http://www.toptravelangebot.de and in 2010 I started http://www.qualitysites4all.com with some collegues. Qualitysites4all.com is a WYSIWYG CMS for small businesses and we support a lot of clients from the hospitality business.
