1 year, 4 months ago: Hi everyone. I’m happy to be here. Hoping this club will help me get a handle on Facebook. I have a facebook account for our newspaper, but it is sadly outdated. I want to revamp it as I put our newspaper online.
I do many creative things in my life, but first and foremost I’m a writer and will be so until the day I leave this mortal plane. I was a freelance journalist for more than 30 years and now I write, edit, and publish a local community newspaper. I also have several other writing projects in the hopper.
Facebook confuses me. I know what I want to have – I can see what I want my outcome to be, but I haven’t yet been able to figure out how to make it happen.
For instance, how do you keep an open page and prevent folks from posting game stuff on it (not interested at all in seeing that)?
Or how do you get those who like your personal page to become fans of your business page (where the numbers really matter to you?)
How do you set up a separate page with a landing page/opt in for a completely different service without having folks on your other pages knowing about the site (completely different audiences)?
So, yes, I know these are newbie questions and I have spent a huge amount of time reading facebook manuals and googling information and reading Social Media Examiner and, even with two tabs up and reading a sentence and doing the action, I’m still stumped.
If I had the budget, I’d outsource it, but that isn’t an option right now. Although, I’m totally open to bartering — any FB wunderkind need terrific writing or editing?
I’ve actually been called brilliant in other areas of my life — but somehow, some times, when faced with Facebook, I feel like an idiot.
Here’s hoping for some solutions in this club so I can start feeling smart again. And, I’m glad to share my knowledge where it helps. Words, writing, editing, creative ideas, are all available.
