  • Hey! I am a project manager with the Girl Scouts in Eastern Tennessee and I am excited to be able to share what we do here as well as get insight into how we can move our social media from ok to awesome!  Here’s our Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/GSCSA )and we have just started venturing into Google Plus.

  • My legal name is Rhi.

I live in Southern California. I have a precocious 8-year-old daughter who wears me out and a wonderful husband.
I also have CFIDS & Fibro, so it has been hard juggling life, family & work. I had to quit my job to be a SAHM and hopefully help my health. It is hard since I am extremely driven and have been working since I was 14.
I started doing free lance Web Design a few years ago to feel productive as well as helping some of the non-profits I belong to with their social media. While doing this, I fell in love with all things social media and have recently decided to start a new web business, The Parent 411.
I am hoping it will become a one-stop place for all parents to come to find what they are looking for.
Here is my FB page, https://www.facebook.com/TheParent411and the website itself, http://theparent411.com/

  • Hello everyone!

I am so excited to be part of the networking club! I started a business just 2 years ago, Business Resource Alliance of Yakima. After moving to this community I saw the need to help small businesses get on board with marketing on Facebook. I was using FB to get to know people in the community, and in return was being asked how they could use it too. I am a self taught entreprenuer, and I am excited at the opportunity to learn more about social media marketing from others in this club.

I started a networking group that meets every week called The Yakima Valley Social Media Coffee Club. We are up to about 50 members. We meet together and support each other in our facebook marking efforts.

I also am a distributor of Send Out Cards, which is an online greeting card company that has developed a system for people and businesses to add appreciation and relationship marketing to their overall strategy.

I look forward to getting to know everyone in this new club.

  • Hi All,

I’m Karen Pelletier, a marketing consultant in the CA desert.  I’ve been in marketing all of my professional life (30+ years) and I’ve done consumer packaged goods marketing, a lot of new product work (including tech) and consulting.  I tend to evaluate the changes in our industry with a “long view” perspective.

Keeping up with what’s going on in the industry is a full time job.  I’m so glad you’re all there so that I can ask questions to knowledgeable peers!

Looking forward to getting to know you!

  • Hi everyone.  Me facebook page is https://www.facebook.com/CorySandykePage. My business is affiliate marketing in the fitness industry.

I have slowly been able to gain some fans, but not near as many as I would like.  I’m having trouble getting any interaction from most of my fans.  One thing I notice is that those that have a great following are people that have or are in the process of losing weight, and because I have always had a slim body type, it’s tough for people to relate I guess. What I do have is a life time of physical activity including work and play which I am possitive help contribute to weight loss and fitness, because I see many new forms and fads that imulate techniques that I have used in the past.

I’m a big fan of the folks at Social Media Examiner, and am very pleased with this new social area that they have created for us.

  • Hi Cory, the first thing you need to do is transition your business from a personal profile to a business profile before Facebook shuts you down. Basically you are in breach of their T&Cs.

Don’t worry all your friends will be converted to fans.

I was going to look at it and give you some more input but I hate the timeline concept. Happy to look once you have transitioned.

  • Hello. Just joined this club today. I’m an account exec for Breaking Limits, LLC, a PR/marketing agency with clients mostly in motorsports.  I create and manage social media accounts for many clients and am interested in learning the latest and great trends on Facebook — especially ones you don’t have to pay for (clients in our industry typically can’t pump money into social media bells and whistles).

    My agency’s Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/BreakingLimitsLLC

    Nice to “meet” you all!

  • Greetings Everyone!

I am an account manager at a national marketing company and social media neophyte. We are looking for ways to maximize our online presence and make the most of social media as a way to recruit and communicate with others.

I personally would like to expand my social media skills and knowledge to become a full time social media professional at some point in the future.

  • Hello everyone;
My name is Corey Blackmur and recently I became a member of the networking groups here at Social Media Examiner, still feeling my way around so to speak.

I’ve joined all three of the clubs because I have an interest in each of them and am looking to contribute my knowledge where I can as well as learn from the other members.
I do use Facebook as a marketing tool, although in saying that, not to the fullest extent that I can, basically because I don’t have a full understanding as to how to take advantage of everything Facebook has to offer.

Anyway, I’m looking forward to staying abreast with the club and if you want to connect, please ask and if you want to be friends on Facebook you can catch up to me here:

  • Hey everyone! I hope you don’t mind one more. I really like the idea of the Social Media Clubs. I think I will learn a lot from everyone and maybe I can share some ideas with all of you as well. I’m a Social Media Director for a small company called spotya.com
For a long time our team would think about Facebook and all the other social media platforms, but never really got deep into it until last year. I think the interaction that has been taking place over our Facebook business page alone has been a positive move forward for our company.
I look forward to seeing more from everyone.
    Thanks!

  • Hi everyone! I’m excited to be a part of this group and plan on learning a lot. I’ve spent the last 17-18 years of my life as a marketing & branding strategist, concentrating on using my graphic design and copywriting ability to help small & medium companies create unified marketing solutions. I’m at a cross-roads in my career, seeing an opportunity to start a marketing services business, and want to learn as much as possible before I choose my next path.

I’m very much in the “work-in-progress” stage with my business, but have a Facebook page focusing on Social Media Marketing that I’d love for you to visit & like, http://www.facebook.com/pages/Social-Media-Marketing-by-DeannaJ/256533124409708. I’d love to connect on LinkedIn, http://www.linkedin.com/in/deannajohnsonminnesota, also.

I’m looking forward to connecting with you soon!

  • hi everyone, nice to be here and part of the beta. this concept of “club” in this context is extremely interesting to me as i’ve just finished up a three year consulting project developing and launching an online club for quilters and scrapbookers. a club community can be a powerful social media tool – so it’s perfect that social media examiner be on the forefront.
i’m now between jobs and also launching my own social media coaching/service… (don’t want all my eggs in one basket!) which is how i ran across sme – learn tons on the blog and always find the articles not only interesting but hard-working and practical. thanks for all you do!

  • Hello Everyone,

Where to start?  I know at the beginning.  I’m Judy, nickname Red, and have been a small business owner for several years, but just recently started a business that requires me to learn all this new “social” stuff.  That is why I’m here because I know nothing and need to learn everything.

What I do now is design perfume, and all natural skin and hair care products.  What I did before was own a daycare.  I know the burning question is how did you get from daycare to skin care?  Many years ago I was a licensed cosmetologist so it was a natural change.

Here I am ready to make social media and marketing work to my advantage.  I’m going to need lots of help.

If you are interested in my products this is where you will find them at http://www.heartlandsos.com.

    See you on the threads.

  • Hi everyone. I’m happy to be here. Hoping this club will help me get a handle on Facebook. I have a facebook account for our newspaper, but it is sadly outdated. I want to revamp it as I put our newspaper online.

I do many creative things in my life, but first and foremost I’m a writer and will be so until the day I leave this mortal plane. I was a freelance journalist for more than 30 years and now I write, edit, and publish a local community newspaper. I also have several other writing projects in the hopper.

Facebook confuses me. I know what I want to have – I can see what I want my outcome to be, but I haven’t yet been able to figure out how to make it happen.

For instance, how do you keep an open page and prevent folks from posting game stuff on it (not interested at all in seeing that)?

Or how do you get those who like your personal page to become fans of your business page (where the numbers really matter to you?)

How do you set up a separate page with a landing page/opt in for a completely different service without having folks on your other pages knowing about the site (completely different audiences)?

So, yes, I know these are newbie questions and I have spent a huge amount of time reading facebook manuals and googling information and reading Social Media Examiner and, even with two tabs up and reading a sentence and doing the action, I’m still stumped.

If I had the budget, I’d outsource it, but that isn’t an option right now.  Although, I’m totally open to bartering — any FB wunderkind need terrific writing or editing?

I’ve actually been called brilliant in other areas of my life — but somehow, some times, when faced with Facebook, I feel like an idiot

Here’s hoping for some solutions in this club so I can start feeling smart again. And, I’m glad to share my knowledge where it helps. Words, writing, editing, creative ideas, are all available.

    Jessica

  • Hey everybody,

I’m really excited to be a part of this community and I’m looking forward to networking and building some great relationships!

I am a coach, consultant, motivational speaker and self-published author of self-help books that teach self-awareness, how to build character, and how to develop personal leadership skills.

So how did I come to get into the “Self-Help” industry? For the sake of brevity, I’ll just say that I’ve been through some things in my life that have taught me some very profound life lessons that I think are very important to pass on to others!

As I said, I’m excited to be here and I’m looking forward to networking and building some great relationships with all of you.

    Take care, “Professa D”

  • I’m Jane Cook. Throughout my adulthood I’ve always been involved in some form of marketing or sales starting in the early 1980′s in that fledgling industry, cable television.  Technology has changed a lot since then, but the basics of analysis, strategy, implementation and ROI analysis have not.  I took a long break to raise my children, volunteer and do some freelance work.  I started back full time a couple of years ago with a company that produces networking and educational seminars for C-level executives.  I handled marketing and sponsorship sales.  During that stint I fell in love with social media and the role it plays in the marketing mix.  I’ve just recently started a consulting firm that works with small business to add strategic social media to their marketing.

  • Hi, all! It’s great to be here.

I wear a bunch of different hats. I’m the publicist for an author out of Tennessee. I just started up a blog about one of my favorite cities: Austin, TX. And in my “spare time,” I run a startup with my husband called Knektion (pronounced “connection”).

Knektion exists to empower individuals and small businesses through social media and SEO education, and to use our knowledge base to implement customized online marketing strategies for our clients, to help them achieve their personal and professional goals.

    Is This Thing On?
    Greetings folks
I am an IT Director IT Project Manager and have been actively following SME since day 1.

I don’t use FaceBook for business (for shame) in fact I don’t use any social media for business. I just enjoy the social aspect – and I like to fix things. They say if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. True enough. But when I see an app, widget, plugin or do-hickey that doesn’t work as (I think) it should, I change it.

Copy editor on the side and I have done a couple of stints teaching at high school and different universities.

  • Hello all.  I have been involved in social media for a little more than two years, yet I am far from being an expert yet.  I work for a data processing company that operates in four different industries.  We have a Facebook page, Twitter account, and YouTube channel for each division and I am the administrator of those.

I was glad to see the clubs being created so I could join and learn from those of you that have already gone through the growing pains (and lacking management support) that I am experiencing now.

You can follow me personally on Facebook (facebook.com/RandallSPalmer) and Twitter (@tubatrainer).  You can also follow my work by liking the Facebook pages that I am administrator of: FPS GOLD, GOLDPoint Systems, PCIS GOLD, and DHI-Provo.

Thanks in advance for everything that you can teach/show me.  Isn’t that what communities are for?  Awesome.

  • Hello everyone, Im a self-employed web designer (since 2008) and I work with several clients in the USA and Australia. My clients tend to be involved with social media either as their business or as a tool to broaden their business audience.

While Ive been in the web design and working with marketing teams since 1997, Ive only recently discovered the Social Media Examiner.  I was very excited to learn of the Social Media Examiner clubs and the potential to find a place where people of like minds could get together, share and learn.

My belief is that you learn every day of your life, and if you feel you already know it all, you might as well lay down for your last sleep. How little excitement would be left if there were nothing new to discover!

Im excited to see this new venture get off the ground and can’t wait for my fellow marketing associates to be on board as well!

  • Hey all!

I am a web designer for small businesses. I work primarily with Joomla and WordPress. My company is Cluster Web Design

I’m really looking forward to learning and contributing to this forum! I’ve decided that 2012 is my year for Social both for myself and for my clients. Oh, I’ve been working with Facebook, LinkedIn, etc for several years, but only slightly. Now, I plan on getting serious with it.

My FB Fan Page is at https://www.facebook.com/ClusterWebDesign and my personal page is at https://www.facebook.com/heather.murray27. Feel free to Like and Friend me as I use both for business. I’ll always reciprocate.

  • My name is Sandra Angelo, Art Coach for those whose art is so pitiful it never even made it to their own mom’s fridge.

For 22 years I have specialized in working with the NON ARTIST, taking them from stick figures to photographic renderings. My students have gone on to win top awards, megabucks art careers, fame, fortune or just drawing grand kids and Muffy and Fluffy.

My Home Study Courses are used by students on 5 continents and I host free webinars to reach them (recent webinar with 4,005 in attendance.)

I’m looking to form strategic alliances with charitable organizations to use my Home Study Courses as fund raisers.

i.e. http://www.DrawPETS101.com Home Study Course would be used to raise funds for humane societies.

http://www.DrawWILDAnimals.com (Home Study Course is being written right now) would be used for zoos and wildlife societies. (I grew up in Africa and am taking a safari back to Africa this summer: http://www.ArtSAFARIwithSANDRA.com.)

I mention this here because I’m hoping to find back door connections to these charitable organizations and discover ways to reach their customers through social media.

Do you know anyone in those industries? I’d appreciate a referral.

I’m the author of 49 books (with 5 on the way) and 20 DVDS (2 on the way), 7 Home Study Course (1 on the way) and had my own column in several national magazines.

I was awarded a Fellowship from Rhode Island School of Design, Emmy nomination and all those other awards you need to “collect”.

  • Hi everyone.

I use facebook socially – but need to learn more about how to use it to benefit my little business.

You will hear more from me soon ;)

  • Hello everyone.  It’s wonderful to see just how diverse this group is — location, professional background, as well as social media experience level!

In addition to working as a part-time legal assistant, I own/operate an antiques & collectibles online shop, with a Facebook page that has had slow but steady growth.

My desire to gain a much deeper understanding of social media has brought me to realize that, with growth and refinement of the skills and experience I already have in place, I could also be of service to other local small business owners.

I’m looking forward to learning all that I can and, of course, helping whenever I can.  I should add, however, that with recent and upcoming webinars, as well as maintaining my normal weekly work schedule, my plate and brain are approaching maximum capacity, so I’ll be in nibble mode here for the next couple of weeks.  :)

My Facebook page is Flashback Alley

  • Hi all,
I’m working right inside the corporate space of Social Media. I’m currently editor for http://www.tradingquarter.com that launched in December 2012.

I also guest lecture at some colleges here in Scandinavia, on social and online media.

I founded http://www.musicproducersforum.com in 2007 as a side project (Personal passion), and now finding that it’s group on Linkedin and the blog site is starting to exponentially grow, so it is close to becoming commercial.

I started my first blog in 1997 (Before the word Blog was conceived), and have worked in traditional publishing/events that focused on digital media.

Feel free to connect with me on Linkedin http://www.linkedin.com/in/Jomar.
I hope to see this forum really sprout new opportunities for its founder and members alike.

  • I everyone – I am starting a new business in South Dakota (Your Social Butterfly) doing Social Media for area businesses. We are a bit behind up here and most businesses do it wrong.

I am just getting it launched and haven’t officially put my Facebook page out there – March 1 is my “go live date”. I am getting some blogs put up out there and getting my website ready so am looking for ways to make it look like I am not a “newbie” in the business as I have been doing social media for a larger firm for a few years.

My twitter is @SocialBFlySD and my facebook is http://www.facebook.com/pages/Your-Social-Butterfly/264191486981753

I need to focus on my start up stuff and get it going. Right now, all my spare time is spent n new clients….

    Any advice?

  • Hello! My name is Murphy White. For the last year I’ve been studying about using social media as a marketing platform. I’ve made several Fan Pages on facebook for various musicians and non-profit organizations. I really look forward to sharing and learning on here to be able to make the most of social media and maybe eventually turn it into some money ;)

  • Good evening and HELLO to everyone!
I am sad to say that I got the Beta invite but am just now getting time to join.  My apologies for arriving late to the game.
I am a Human Resources Manager from Hattiesburg, Mississippi working for the same Mississippi-based telecom provider for the past sixteen years.  My role within the company allows me to wear a multitude of different hats and social media is one that I seemed to inherit by default.  (You will find no argument from me on this!!)
My love has always been technology and writing – so social media just simply bridges those two.  I always wanted to be a writer when I was younger but life had a different path for me and I am eagerly anticipating writing more, connecting more, and learning more about this fantastic new form of communication.
I just began a blog today at http://kylemjones.us so feel free to visit the site.
I can also be contacted on LinkedIn, Google+, and Twitter.

  • Hey everyone! :)

I run an SEO / social media business (I’ve been running it for about 6-7 months).  I’ve been following the Social Media Examiner blog for a while now, and was reluctant to join the club thing since I thought it would be another ‘time issue’ thing — but since I was getting so much out of the blog, I decided it wouldn’t hurt to join since there’s so much to learn.

So, I’m a bit late to the game, but ready to connect, learn & maybe even share a few things as well!

Thanks so much, look forward to connecting!

    ~Devani

  • Hey guys! This looks like it will be fun! I work for Hubze, Inc which most know from our Fan Page Engine product for Facebook. I change my official title every few weeks! Hard to encompass everything I do into one title! I manage all of our social presence basically. From Facebook to Twitter to Google+ to our Blog (which was just named the #4 social media blog by Social Media Examiner for 2012!!) to Podcasts and etc. As well as handle all of our training and assist with Support and of course Sales!

I fell into social media by accident when I started using Facebook for my own transport business about 2 years ago. Fell in love with it and quickly became the goto person to ask about how to use Facebook so I started a page called Pimp My Fan Page that garnered alot of attention. Which led me to work for Hubze. Pretty exciting stuff!

Feel free to Subscribe to me on Facebook and ask me any questions you want about Facebook or Google+ and I’ll be happy to answer them!

  • Hi Everyone!

I hope it’s OK to be part of all three clubs here!  : )

I am a freelance writer and marketer helping small food, wine and creative businesses learn to market online.  I’ve been blogging for about 3 years about food, wine and restaurants, etc., but I just recently started a new blog (2 months ago) to support my writing and marketing business.  And I know being a part of this wonderful community is going to help me lots there!

My Facebook Page for that business is: http://www.facebook.com/WeeklyDishwithKimberlyHouston

It’s called “Weekly Dish” because that’s the name of the weekly email communication that goes out to my list from http://kimberlydhouston.com/, so I thought it made sense to call my Facebook Page the same thing as the weekly email.  But now I’m wondering if I should change it to something else (I’m still under 100 fans, so I can do this) so it doesn’t seem confusing . . . ? Any feedback most welcome!  : )

Anyway, great to be here, and I look forward to networking with everyone!

Oh, and on Twitter I’m at:

  • Hello Everyone,

I recently just started being an independant marketing consultant.  I was in sales and marketing for 15 years in the media industry and for the past 5 years a small business owner of a small retail company.

Now as a independant marketing consultant I am finding it necessary to be more versed on social media consulting.   I wouldn’t say I am a beginner since I launched a social media stratgey last year for a local business coaching firm I worked for.  However, I feel I have a lot to learn still.

I look forward to conversing and learning from everyone here and lending any help I can from my own experiences.

    Thanks,

    Joy

  • Hi everyone,I’m so happy that I found this club! I’ve attended FBSS and now SBSS and love the info and all the people.

My husband and I own a small business in NJ and have been providing branding, marketing and creative services for more than 13 years. We recently launched an online magazine where we provide free marketing content aimed at small businesses and other marketing professionals who need support. The magazine is our passion project with much the same goals as SME – to provide great content, totally free of charge and to connect with our community.

I want to add that I “Liked” a whole stack of Facebook pages after reading through this thread. Great people here!

Although my company provides marketing services and I’m always happy to discuss that, what I’d really love is to share the “free stuff” and hear what you think.
