ideas on picture posts? (8 posts)

  • any new ideas    from  the   social media pros to help us   deal with    the  new   shrunken  reach of our picture posts on fb?      whats  the   consensus  now?  

    i havent  fouond much new     lately   on the places where i go for info…lots on the event  but little on what to do……..besides  good  content?   i wonder what the pros are   prescribing….i love  pictures…they define my page.

    ..i sure hope this subject isnt  being  dropped…. i know what im  doing  but would like to hear   how   others are  reacting  to all this….

  • @annfurnivall – are you already working with a Pinterest account? I was wondering if I should focus on Pinterest as ‘storage location’ for my photos and then update my FB account from there. But then again, I heard that links get the least reach in FB. But it would be a good opportunity to build up my Pinterest account now and maybe create more traffic there alltogether…

  • @annfurnivall I hadn’t heard about photo reach reduction. I have noticed that my text-only posts seem to get the most views lately (mainly my AM status updates).

    @claudiapoeckl Interesting idea. I generally throw Infographics, research and other fun stuff into our Pinterest account. I do have a Woobox (I think) button on our Facebook page. In fact, Pinterest gave our website 4 visits last month :)

  • @claudiapoeckl i do  pinterest…but  its not   local  customers like my facegbook is….  i love pinterest tho!!!  and  lots of my  fb fans are  on my  boards……i wouldnt want all my pictures on pinterest….just the  best ones…. 

    @kc_kreative the photo thing is  a big   concern to  some…like me…. there was a l ong   comment section  on it on  grandma marys  page a few  days ago….many of us love pictures and are seeing our  dull text only   posts  doing  better than   the pictures….

  • Are your picture posts getting less actual engagement than they did before, @annfurnivall ?  Text posts are getting higher reach but I still see that my photo posts are getting a similar amount of actual comments and likes and that’s the important thing!  

  • @andrea-vahl….i looked at the picture posts and the engagement  WAS about the same..down  about  10%….im  suprised  very much  by this…..  but  still so many fewer people  saw  the posts….the lsilent majority who dont engage

     this is what i  found in a  general way  about all the posts….i looked at  the  most recent  10 posts and  compared them to the  10  posts  before  sept 21……it  seems  pretty dramatic  …

    engaged users  went from  average per post    180  down to 70,,,,,

    and  talking about this…from  40 average  per post down to 20…

    i figures d this would  be  a  good  comparison..

    ..then there is the issue of  all the folks who signed up to   hear  from me   and want to  but  never   bother to engage….wish you  could  see my insight page!

    if a few  folks  comment  on a picture post  the   reach  still goes up over  1000, out of my 3700  fans….so  it  doesnt  feel hopeless….but so many of  the  picture posts  which  were always  good arent  even  getting  to 700  reach….

    i just  read  that  taco  bell   posted  something  without a picture…. thats what im doing   too…

  • Wow, that’s something to think about. Taco Bell, the bright and sassy visual King among advertisers, posted something without a picture? Well, that about says it all…

  • You know, Chris Munch made his fortune copying what he learned while working for Big Brands. His whole “Pigeon” series of online courses emphasizes using photo/image/quote bait to draw viewers to your website. He’s sold more Warrior Forum Special Offers than anyone else on a marketer’s forum with over half a million members. Meaning… he’s the internet marketing Guru among gurus in visual marketing.

    I’m wondering now what his take is on visual’s diminishing returns on Facebook… I must admit that I haven’t bought his recent courses where I’m sure he’s been spelling this out long before now. He’s always ahead of the game.

    Anyone know what Chris Munch’s take on this is?
