Well, in my work, they asked me to help in a facebook page they’re managing right now. It’s a chilean shoe brand, with 50 years of experience and 10.000 likes in their FB page. It’s a very popular brand in Chile, so they don’t need people to know them or like them, people already do, but with all the fans they have, there isn’t a lot of participation from the users…
what would you recommend for a brand like this? people already love their shoes. they make business shoes mostly, for men. I was thinking they really need good content. What content is recommended for a shoe brand?do anyone here have any ideas?
I think that they need more people to participate than new likes in their page.
I’m a web designer, not a community manager so I’m a little clueless here.

Though fill-in-the-blank sentences have not worked for me, they are supposed to work. For example, I hate taking off my XYZ shoes because _____________.
Maybe you can partner with a sock or suit company for some cross-pollination of content.
Remember to make some of the posts personal. Have staff submit pictures of their shoe collection to post or candid shots of the factory (if allowed).
A fun one might be to cover some of the fashion shows. Even if they’re not your shoes, let your fans critique what’s on the catwalk!

but some of them I don’t think they will work… since this is a men shoe brand, I don’t think men are interested in commenting about a fashion show, isn’t it? I have lots of ideas for woman shoes but for men I’m even more clueless! lol

@kc_creative, Exactly what I was thinking as I was reading the post–having fans submit photos in the shoes. Love that idea! Even though it’s men which makes the engagement slightly more challenging, I’m sure you could still get some involvement by some men and their wives and girlfriends.
Depending on how important getting the engagement going on the page is, I think contests are a great way to do so. Give away a free pair shoes…

My husband has actually said a couple of things about shoes recently
’I can’t wear these socks with these shoes’
and he actually asked my daughter’s boyfriend what to use to clean some boots he’s just bought!
Maybe ask some questions around those types of things – rather than the shoes themselves. Ask for shoe cleaning tips (men seem to like that kind of thing), or ask for tips on what kind of shoes are best for interviews, dates, etc, does anyone have a ‘lucky’ pair of shoes for when they’re playing sports.

I would suggest creating content on the main site and linking to it from Facebook. Do you have a blog? Here are a few ideas:
- videos of how the shoes are made
- articles on the materials used (grades of leather, types of laces, soles, etc.)
- Write “the ultimate guide to”…shoe-leather care, work boots, dress shoes, golf shoes, waterproofing shoes, matching shoes to the suit/pants/clothing, …
- Write the Top 10 most-…unusual shoes, inexpensive shoes, expensive shoes, ugly shoes, popular ways to avoid/treat foot fungus, popular shoes for hiking/boating/dancing, unusual materials used to make shoes
- Create a map of Chile displaying most popular mens’ shoes by region
- Glossary of shoe terms…whats an aglet?
- Directory of shoe repair locations in Chile – might get you some good in-bound links form those locations too
- Articles on the history of shoe making
- There must be a series of weird facts about shoe making over the centuries.
- Pictorial Timeline of shoe making in Chile, South America, worldwide, …
