How to sign-in to websites using Facebook Fan Page? (8 posts)

  • Hi,

I have a personal FB page (www.facebook.com/deniserubright). I created a Fan page under that as (www.facebook.com/wichitamediaconsultants).

When I try to log in to websites using FB, it is signing in with my personal FB account. What do I need to do in order to be able to use my business fan page for log in purposes. Most of the websites I visit are for business purposes.

Any ideas how I can set this up?

    Thanks, Denise

  • @deniserubright I don’t think fb allows login using page because when you are logged in as your page in facebook and wants to install any app, facebook first asks you to switch back to your profile, similarly when you try to click on any facebook share button on a website to share its content, facebook will not allow you to share that page content until you are visiting that website while logged in as your personal profile and not the business page. This is the reason i think there is no such way to allow people to log-in to website using their fb business page. But i found something that may help you.Read it here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/8869703/login-to-website-using-facebook-page

  • Denise, logging in to a website means, that you allow the application (when the permissions show up) and I believe that you can’t do that when using Facebook as a page. Facebook doesn’t let users create fake “business” accounts, but sometimes it’s the only case if you don’t want the app developers have your personal data. But it’s not what I advise, you may get into troubles if you use such account

  • Wow! That information and technical terminology is way over my head. I guess I’ll just stick to the way it is for now. Thanks anyways, Denise@moinshaikh

  • @deniserubright

Basically…you can’t.  If you see businesses logging in, it’s most likely a business account that uses a personal profile (which is a no-no) instead of a business page.

  • So because I used my personal FB page to create my business fan page, I will not be able to sign in anywhere as my business? For future use, should I create a business account that is NOT created under my personal account. Because when I want to hand off administrative duties to my client, they will have no way of getting into their account. That’s seems odd, but with FB anything goes.

  • @deniserubright If you hand over the account to your client, you simply add your client in the list of administrators (admin role Manager allows full access). Your client will also have to sign in with his personal profile, but as admin he will be able to post in the name of the page.

  • oh, I get it.
