How to manage third party photo posting? Best practices only! (5 posts)

  • Hello everybody!
I have a doubt I want to share with you all.
Pinterest, Instagram, Facebook visual content. The main question is:
How to manage third party photo posting on your social media properties?

For example, I’ve seen The Corcoran Group posting a third party photo from Pinterest to their Facebook Page, including the link source.

    Is this a good practice?
Is there a way to do this automatically from Pinterest rather than having to save the image to post it to a Facebook page?

    Thank you!

  • I’m not quite sure what you are asking @maximiliano-garcia  Are you asking if we should post 3rd party links to photos on our Page?  From my recent tests, Facebook photos are possibly not getting as good of a Reach as Links.  Photos used to outperform Links but now it looks like Text, Links then Photos may be the new order of Reach.

But the benefit of Facebook photos is that they are much larger in the News Feed.  I don’t know of a way to automatically post a photo from Pinterest other than from a link.

  • @Maximiliano Garcia - short answer no – I spent last weekend searching for “pinterest automation” since you can’t pin from FB or Instagram they also made the process (non) reciprocal. Our Pinterest traffic exploded after the Instagram TOS fiasco but I’ve given up trying to keep up with the 999 (literally as of today) Pinterest email notifications we have received since the day after Instagram fans started fleeing.
As for “is this a good practice”? My answer – it’s all fun and games until someone gets sued. Until then I’m treating Pinterest like a “Glory Hole” (watching too many gold mining reality shows) for images.

  • Hello @andrea-vahl,

First of all thanks for the answer. I’ve been following your latest posts and Facebook page updates about Reach. Such an annoying change, isn’t it? :P
Do you have some extra information published from Facebook about this changes?

About my question: My doubt was mainly if there wasn’t any issue about taking an image (saving to my desktop) from PInterest and then post it on a Facebook page, with a link of course. Is it a problem Pinterest try to avoid in any way or not? I saw the Corcoran Group doing it so I wanted to ask first.

    @mitch-rezman, you’re all wisdom! :)
I love to hear your tips and testimonials from what you’re learning from experience. Thank you very much!

    See you soon guys!
    Best,
    Max.
