How to increase fan engagement on Facebook page (10 posts)

  • I have a facebook page, I do get clicks to my website from my facebook page whenever I post a link to an article but for some reason, I do not get enough engagement on the page. Not too many people commenting on the page.. One of the things I want to do with the page is to encourage discussion and fans networking with each other.. but for some reason this is not happening, can anybody give me some ideas on how to increase fan engagement on my page?

  • @vinil-ramdev Hi Vinil
You main issue is that you are mostly just posting stuff (albeit interesting stuff) and not really encouraging conversation. Have a look at my Facebook page as I am running a series of posts all this week on asking the right questions to build engagement on Facebook.

Also, you can check out this post and this post on building engagement on Facebook on my blog.
I hope they help, and please let me know how you go if you use those tactics.

  • @vinil-ramdev I hear you. I receive limited engagement with my posts, mostly likes & shares. It all has to be very visual with my fans (well we are in advertising and marketing!). I try to post slightly controversial topics to encourage comments which has worked. My fill-in-the-blank post had low visibility tho some text posts do get noticed, such as quotes.

Hopefully when you do get comments you followup as needed.  @russellallert thanks for the examples!

  • i would look around at other pages  in  your  field   and  see how   your  peers  do it….and if  they  are   doing it……

  •  Hi @Vinil-ramdev, I checked your page and while you have a good # following you , you are right your engagement is pretty limited. The posts that I see on your page are more of informational posts which are good and needed to drive fans to where you want but, you also can mix in some posts that inspire your fans. You want fans to like you, not meaning just click like on your page, but to really like you. They want you to make them laugh, to entertain them, to inspire them, They want you to ask about them, what they are doing and what they might need. Social Media networking is about building relationships, so when they feel included, they engage more in your page. The other obstacle,is that Facebook only allows a percentage to see your posts, so even if you have 5,000 fans, sometimes maybe only 500 fans see it. One of my goals is to keep the # of who is talking about on my page up because then I know my page is being seen, when it starts to drop, I have to increase my engagement. I also noticed that you don’t have a cover and not that that would encourage more engagement, but it does leave an impression on your fans. It is a great way to give your page feeling, which helps people to remember you, which is a great way to build a relationship. Hope these tips help :)

  • @kc_kreative @dianebianchi @leadapparel123 @vinil-ramdev Thanks for the kind words! I hope you get something out of it.

Let us know how you go with everything, Vinil. :)

  • It’s not easy, but it can be done. First off start looking at your insights and start looking at what people responded to. Sometimes even the silliest topics get tons of likes or people commenting. It doesn’t always have to be about a particular topic, but it has to make sense with your niche. How can you turn it around to get people thinking?

Posting links to your blog posts is fine, but posting other people’s blog posts(niche-related) helps too. You can tag the original author and most times its appreciated it. It won’t make people leave your facebook page, but they will appreciate you sharing topics that “adds value” and helps them.

Images also work really well, but it has to “say” something. Think outside the box and how it relates to your topic or niche.

Be yourself. Add some fun and go off topic sometimes and talk about news that’s “trending”. How does it relate to your niche or just add something that’s on your mind. Don’t be afraid to do this, but be tactful too as you don’t want to offend anyone either. (Know your readers). And don’t be afraid to be human.
