How to get fans to at least receive your page updates (6 posts)

  • Since facebook changed their algorithm to try and get more revenue by making page owners promote posts to get them seen by fans, I have seen an increase in frustration from page owners who are finding it impossible to get their message out.

Though it still leaves the onus on the fan to check your updates, I have found that asking them to add your page to a list within Facebook helps them to see all your posts.

It is still important to create good content that is interesting and engaging to get clicks, likes and shares, but I think any way to get your posts into your fans vision is worth trying at least.

I created a video How To Add A Facebook Page To A List that helps show the way your Page fans can do this….

  • @iancampbell  i tried  this and  got  good  response…..  i think we called it an interest list…the idea is  spreading  fast  thru  my world…. but how many  times  can it  be   good?

my page  gets it  old  reach  on  text posts   but not   image posts….and  our fans   love pictures….the pictures   have   helped our page  grow  …

.  this is  so wierd  but   totally happening  on my page….i get  400  reach  on a picture post  and over  1000 on a  text post.out of  3700 fans……time after time….and   my  world is all about PICTURES..i used  to get   over  1000 views on  lotsof my  pipctures   …..   any insight on this ?   any  ideas  on how to get   the pictures working  better…..?.

  • @iancampbell Checked out your Facebook page Ian and wanted to wish you luck with this.  Also enjoyed the simple explanation of the Facebook list.  Have you noticed this definitely helps?

  • @annfurnivall This is a trend we have been noticing lately on Facebook too. Whilst picture posts seemed to have the highest reach and engagment a little while ago, it seems Facebook have played with the algorithm on this too and now text based posts are receiving much higher reach than pictures do. A suggestion would be to put the image on your website, do a short text post about your image and then provide a link to the image in the first comment on the post. This has been working for some…. Cheers Ian

  • @kimkline It’s all relative. Even having your posts going into your fans lists is subject to them actually checking the list on a regular basis, but yes it does work quite well when you share contnet that the fan wants to see. I think any edge you have in reaching your audience should be implemented, at least that way you are covering as many bases as possible. Cheers Ian :-)

  • @iancampbell

you don’t even have to put the link in the 1st comment.. put it in your status and once FB “pulls” it, hit status again.. it will close the pulled link.  FB just sees this as a status update and you should get good reach..
