How to disable Facebook Photo tagging on your profile (9 posts)

Topic tags: assistance, photos, tagging
  • Guys, I’ve followed facebook’s help page:

    https://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=10150132570900103

… but it doesn’t look like mine. There’s something different.

I’m unable to avoid the constant tagging and this is eroding my productive time, plus I’m obviously irritated with the spamming and vampirism activity. There are some people that I simply can’t “unfriend” and just send to my fanpage, so I would like to set up my profile to avoid tagging.

    Can anyone help me?

It looks like an old Facebook note from someone’s Page.  Here are the instructions on removing tags and editing your privacy settings.

If that doesn’t help, let me know and I’ll see if I can find additional resources.

  • Hi Nichole, it’s not exactly that… I really want to configure FB to DISABLE tagging, completely. I have already done all the steps above. But it generates time consuming work of denying the tags people add me to. Plus, you can’t automatically set up the system to DISABLE the post following: you have to go there and “unfollow post”. So when I get to my desktop, there are hundreds of emails for a certain picture or item I have been tagged on where people have replied. Stupidly, I may add, like “thank you”. I want to shut down the option of tagging me, period. That will create a problem for my real friends. I’m working on that, slowly transfering people to my page. But you can’t just cut people from your profile because you need them in order to optimize page management… I just want to take their freedom away, completely.

  • I’m having a different “tagging” problem. Partly out of curiosity, and partly because they’re so pretty, I subscribed to that app that calculates who you’re most active friends or followers are and puts their picture in a montage, with your most active followers having the largest pictures. Well, it turned out pretty, and there were no real surprises… until I start getting notices of people I didn’t know tagging photos of people I didn’t know.

What’s happening, apparently, is that it pulled random pictures from my friends ph0to collecton (or either they, for some reason, used someone else’s photo in their profile)… so I guess the original photographers get notices of a photo they took, then come to my page and try to tag it.

I’m starting to get a lot of those kinds of notices. These photos are so tiny that I can’t even see who it is. Don’t want to be rude, but I can’t allow these tags… and I don’t want to take the montage down.

Do I just ignore this… or is someone going to copyright notice me?

It doesn’t sound like you’re in any kind of violation of copyright.  As far as the notices go, if you want to limit them, you can probably adjust the app settings or adjust your privacy settings to make it so people can’t tag photos on your timeline.

  • @iamconsulting Thanks, Nichole. I’ll try that. You are always so helpful. :)

  • The unfortunate thing is that you can’t completely disable tagging,   @marilia-coutinho  One thing you could do to avoid the review is to adjust your settings so that only you see the tagged posts on your timeline.  Byt that doesn’t take away the maintenance of having to unfollow those posts.  You could also adjust your e-mail notifications.

I found that I was being tagged by a few key people for random things and I did just unfriend them.  I think if people are randomly tagging you, it’s just not worth it.

@atlantarobin  If you do need to disable that app, you can go into your Apps area and delete it, that way you don’t get all those other tags.

  • Yeah… I did that. And I did unfriend a few people, very politely (no sarcasm here) inviting them to like my page.

But I do have some friends whom I can’t unfriend (everybody does, I think) who have this “thing” about tagging me on their material. They know I will untag them and all, but, who knows, they might think it’s just so cool that they have no other way to share than tag…

    Anyway, thanks a lot!

  • @atlantarobin

    You’re welcome.  Good luck!
