How to change Facebook post responses option to ”share” only? (10 posts)

Topic tags: #smb, Facebook, fan page
  • I currently have the options on my FB page as “like – comment – share.” I noticed that some of my followers have the “share” only option.

How can I make those changes within Facebook for my business?

    Thanks,

    Denise

  • So you want users to only be able to share your post but not like it or leave a comment on it?

    Is that correct?

  • Yes that is correct. Is that what most FB marketers are doing now? @scottlinklater

  • No certainly not. You don’t want to be able to limit those features and you can’t really do so anyway. I’m not sure what you saw or under what context it was but it wouldn’t have been a straight up post from a friend.

It may have been a facebook bug or maybe an unusual situation for whatever reason….facebook has been really buggy lately.

Anyway, you don’t want to limit those things as they are all valuable.

No doubt a share is more valuable than a comment and a comment has more weight than a post like but they are all important and you want to be getting a mixed bag of all of them.

Can you give some more info on where you have seen these posts and the relationship the person had to you? (facebook fan? Facebook Friend? FB friends friend etc?

    Cheers

  • Sometimes when you use a 3rd party app to post on Facebook, the sharing features are limited. For example, if you use Hootsuite, some of your posts will not have a “share” option. Other times you can only “like” or “comment” but not a combination of all three options. Not sure if this is the case here.

  • Posting a pic from your mobile devise also causes this issue as i just saw it on a page and it reminded me i have seen this many times before and i think it is simply a configuration / compatibility thing that happens between mobile facebook app, facebook website and throw 3rd party apps in for fun and who knows why or what the reason for this to happen actually is :)

  • @deniserubright What post on that users profile you posted are you referring to? I looked at his profile and could see all options on all his posts????

  • It must be a glitch in the system since ALL of his posts from my system only give me the “share” option. If anyone has any other feedback, it is appreciated.

    Hi Denise,

Also check your secure browsing settings if it is enabled. Sometimes people get confused when they see the https in the browser, but it should be green.

Here is a video which you can go check out how to do this.

It should be the first video at this stage as i had clients with similar problems
