How much is too much? (14 posts)

Topic tags: advice, engagement
  • Basically as an admin of the page, how much can one be involved? I understand that SME generally posted 3-4 times a day or maybe more. I’m afraid that if admin gets too involved as in submitting contents too much, it might backfire because that can annoy the readers due to “spamming” unknowingly.

So as an admin, how much can the admin posts contents to an extent? is there a rule of thumb to such thing?

Thanks! :) This is my facebook if anyone like to take a glance to see what kind of page i have because i know it may be different than others and may have some impact on the blog contents. http://www.facebook.com/unlockchiropractic

  • @manan-patel Hi Manan

It totally depends on your page, but I would recommend posting no more than 3 times per day (spread throughout it). I usually post in the morning, at midday and at night.

    Cheers!
    Russ

  • I agree with Russell, it depends on your page. If you manage the ‘outlet’ of a magazine or newspaper you will naturally have more posts. But two to three per day is what I think is sensible.

I follow a Design page on Facebook – they constantly post new images. I have the feeling it’s a matter of seconds. The downside: Very often it happens that the images are grouped together, so I don’t see one photo on my wall but a group of four or even more. I don’t have the time to open each and everyone and so the photo caption/description doesn’t reach me. So I think in this case less would be more. Let the people breathe inbetween…

More than 13 posts for yesterday is too much I think ;)  I agree with @russellallertI would choose 2 – 3 most engaging stories you have for the day and share them. For example the one with yellow circle – that was a great post.

As I’m looking to your Likes tab, I can see that there are no new fans over time. You should check the Insights to see dislikes and hides for your stories and over time. Aren’t you losing some fans?

Edit: I think that sharing more than 3 times a day is ok as long as you have egaging content. And I’ve seen some really great posts on your page :)

  • @manan-patel I was posting around 5 times per day about every two hours; however I have recently cut back to about 3 times. Even with having West Coast members, the 11am to 3pm range seems to work.

Though with the Apple press conference, there might be more posts today :) My group loves iPhone news!

  • @manan-patel  i go  with  russels  recipe…about  3 times a day….

  • That’s what i am trying to understand. How do i know if i am losing friends or people hiding my contents? I noticed that some of my posts have more virality and more organic than others.

  • Go to Insights of your page and in “Overview” panel (where you see your latest posts) you can monitor “Negative feedback” for every post. It is the number of Hides and Unlikes for each story. Just click on the number of “Engaged Users”

You can also check Likes and Unlikes daily in the lower part of “Likes” section.

EDIT: The URL of Insights for your page should be http://www.facebook.com/UnlockChiropractic/page_insights

    wow thanks for the info!

So, what does a negative feedback exactly mean? So far i have only 4 negative feedback (2 on posts, and 1 in each pictures) but whatever, It baffles me as why someone wants to give a negative feedback on an informative pictures.

I don’t seem to be losing any fans. but it seems to be dead not. it’s not going up or down. It’s at plateau phase lol.

as for the likes, some of the data are not showing up and grayed out. it’s weird.

  • It really depends upon what your page is about.  My page is a community support page, probably different from most people’s pages.  I post (repost questions from my fans) as many as 200 questions, news, events, interactive questions, etc daily.
My fan base increases.  Occasionally, some will leave, but most become addicted to helping each other.  I was probably lucky that my page turned out like it did.

  • @manan-patel negative is when you post something and people stop following you because of that post.
To your first question – you can get on a schedule (8, 12, 4) and always post within 15 minutes of that time so people will be used to you schedule.- you can go with the flow on how you feel and post when the mood strikes.
Just keep an eye on the negatives. As soon as you start getting negatives, you have probably gone too far.

  • @kim-olive wow great page! so jelly of your fans! :P I just liked your page! :)

@richardmclaughlin hmm! i’ll keep an eye out for that! thank you! :)

  • @manan-patel
I LIKED your page as well.  What a coincidence… I just started this “hard as heck” boot camp this week.  I am sure I will find good info on your page & website.

  • Great to hear! :) Hope you enjoy the info and feel free to ask anything anytime!
