How many of you calculate fb page egderank during your fb campaign? (10 posts)

  • We love Facebook marketing and we do that! But how many of us calculate Facebook page edgerank to decide next strategy and to evaluate to work done so far? Frankly saying, i was not doing so but i came to read couple articles about how important it is, and i googled on how to calculate it. I just started it.

I also got to know from @rlmosca that edgerank plays critical role in publishing your content to your fan’s profile’s news feed section. The greater is your page edgerank, the higher your news feed appears on fan profile. So keep an eye on it now and…you know what i mean, i get good return!

If any one wants to know how to calculate edgerank, can refer to @rlmosca ‘s wonderful thread or may google it simply!

  • I don’t actively monitor on each campaign but I do check periodically with http://www.Edgerankchecker.com – not affiliated with Facebook at all. But good information as a spot check.
I’ve definitely found that the Talking About This number is a good indication of how you are doing!

  • thanks @andrea-vahl

  • @andrea-vahl I’ve been paying attention to the “talking about this” section as well. I’ll check the link you just provided; thanks for that.

  • As a heads up, I manage a number of client Facebook pages and I’ve found Edgerankchecker to be unreliable as far as measurements go.  Their numbers are all over the place.  While it’s an interesting set of metrics, I wouldn’t put too much stock in them (at Edgerankchecker).  Be sure to monitor yours and make your own conclusions – don’t just accept that their data is accurate. I’ve found it to be lacking.

  • Thanks Bridgett. I am watching and listening.
I am paying more attention than ever to metrics so appreciate your input.

  • I have just begun paying attention to edgerank.  By posting things that encourage answers, my numbers have been SLOWLY rising.  I’m hoping to have them much higher by the time golf season begins again (April for us) because offering short term specials from our FB page won’t do any good if no one ever sees them!

  • I do agree – since they are just a third party I don’t put too much stock into them, @braffenberg – but sometimes it can be a place to start.  I think the Talking About This score is the one to watch.

  • I am still not quite sold on the “talking about this” as I am not sure how it is tracking because our number fluctuates up and down so much. I am definitely trying to keep it as high as possible, but it stays lower since they made the changes to the newsfeed..

  • Along this line.  I logged into Facebook today and noticed several posts from someone I subscribe to ~ I am also a face of one of his Facebook pages.  Seeing his posts made me notice that the page’s posts were not showing up for me at all.  The person is Pete Cashmore and the page is Mashable.  Now, if you follow Mashable, you know that their posts get LOTS of interaction, if you don’t follow Mashable, trust me that there is no reason they shouldn’t be showing up in my News Feed ~ something is going on here.  Looks like Facebook has changed algorithms again . . .

    NOT GOOD!
