    Hey SME folks,

    Beyond the usual disclaimer (which I give too) that it depends on the industry, brand awareness, goals etc… about how many fans do you shoot for promoting a client’s page? Just curious.

    just an fyi…im in woman oriented   retail with a popular local  store and have 2600….  i personally   know lots of other local  stores  withover 1000….so if you told a retail store client that  200 was  great it might  not  ring  true…

    Unless the client has defined a specific goal, I don’t target a specific number. I define their market and target them through optimization, influencers and ads.

    @annfurnivall thanks for the input Ann. FWIW I value your input a lot, intuitive understanding of social from a small business perspective. You seem to have really taken to digital naturally. 

    @iamconsulting Right, I won’t commit to a number either unless that is the pure scope of work. I have a “get me 10,000 fans through Facebook Ads now” project running right now actually and it’s a lot of fun. So not expressing to the client, but what number do you personally think is good for the average SMB? 7 would be unacceptable, 500,000 wouldn’t be realistic, where in between do you like to land?

    It’s hard to say without more information.  I don’t have a specific number I shoot for for every client.  Much of the work I do is understanding the client’s goals, develop a strategy and implement it to meet and/or exceed those goals.  

    Once I have a good grasp on what they are looking for, I do have an idea of what the bigger picture will look like and how to get there.  It’s different for every business.  It could be a few hundred or tens of thousands.  It just varies too much to put a specific number on it.
