How many fans have clicked on ”Get notifications”? (11 posts)

  • Hi all,
As you are probably aware, EdgeRank blocks a lot of messages (80-90%) made by brands on their Facebook page, so very few posts actually make it in fans’ newsfeed. There is one way to ensure fans receive posts from brands: they need to click on “Get notifications”, hovering over the “Liked” button the page, to see the drop-down menu.

Question: is there a way to know how many of your fans have clicked on “Get notifications”?

  • I don’t see of a way to know that  @fredericgonzalo- that would be very helpful!  Although NONE of my notifications have been working which is very frustrating.  Anyone else had theirs working?  I’m a little irritated that Facebook rolled out a feature that doesn’t work already.

  • @andrea-vahl Funny you should mention that because I just noticed that today: I have clicked on “Get notifications” for a few pages, but I am not convinced I am seeing all their posts.

I mean, isn’t my problem if I like 50 pages and click “Get notifications” to each, and have my newsfeed clogged up? Why does Facebook have to put a filter into place to tell me what I want or don’t want to read? I mean, I totally understand the purpose of EdgeRank at the macro level. With 1 billion users, 300 million photo uploads per day, and God knows how many words or status updates… there has to be some kind of filter. But how can brands or brand evangelists ensure their conversation is still happening without EdgeRank butting its nose in the equation?

Anyway, thanks for confirming that there isn’t, to our knowledge, a way to know how many people have clicked “Get notifications”. Cheers from snowy Quebec City!
    Frederic

  • Same here. We haven’t featured the ‘Get Notification’ option to our fans yet because we are afraid that it might cause negative feedback if they always get these notifications from us. So we have tried it ourselves but the same thing happened, we don’t really get the notifications regardless that we’re the admin of the page.

  • I have used the notifications for a while but finally got annoyed by it. If you follow many pages, the notifications – imho – are not workable because there’s too much clicking involved. You don’t get a nice overview of the content. I’m in favour of interest lists because it’s much easier to scan through a list of posts linked to a specific topic.

I didn’t notice that posts are missing, neither by using notifications nor in my interest lists. Same as for notifications, it would be great to know how many people actually included my page in their interest lists (especially since you don’t have to be a fan to include a page in a list).

  • @andrea-vahl @fredericgonzalo @claudiapoeckl Same here…. Actually about a week ago I signed up to get notifications for a good amount of pages and it was great for about two days….. now unless I post on a comment I don’t see anything. It will only tell me if the page owner posts on the same comment. Soooo….. frustrating :(

  • @tracy-peterson-champagne @claudiapoeckl @freddie-blanco @fredericgonzalo
    Frustrating for sure!

  • I’m no expert, but If I were given a chance to suggest a feature that would answer this problem that would be segregated notifications. Wouldn’t it be easy if there is a section where your personal notifications goes, another one for the pages you follow, and another for the groups you have joined. Compared to the one we use today where everything gets mixed up and it can really get annoying at times. How easy is that?

  • I have some pages on Notification when I’m watching for something specific.  However, I’m with @claudiapoeckl all of my pages are in Lists and I can review them as I have time, depends upon what I’m looking for at that time.

Occasionally I’ll click over from the List to the Page and review to see if I’m getting the important information.  I just do a quick scan and haven’t really noticed anything missing – although I didn’t sit there and compare back and forth.  I’ll be staying with the Lists unless something better comes along.

I keep notifications only for specific people and pages – just seems to work better for me and saves time.

  • Yeah I’ve clicked the Get Notifications for dozens of pages, but I don’t get any notifications when they post.. fail….
