How do you integrate Google+ with Facebook&Twitter? (6 posts)

  • Do you target these 3 channels separately? Any automated tool or plugin that you use to integrate  Facebook&Twitter on Google+?

  • Plenty that do Twitter and Facebook  not all three as G+ have not allowed wide scale access to their API yet.

Hootsuite and a few other launch partners do have access but they don’t have commercially available products to do the automation….except for their enterprise level clients ;)

But surely it must be getting close to everyone having access to their API?

G+ have moved way to slowly….they should have opened it up 6-9 months ago……they’ll never get anywhere until they do!

  • @albertmora I also think that G+ has been slow to “join the party” While we check all three channels regularly, our automation is usually focused on Facebook over any other channel. I think it primarily depends on where your target audience is and which manner they prefer to receive messages.

Like @scottlinklater, I am hoping Google opens up the API for scheduled postings beyond HootSuite Enterprise users VERY soon. I’ve been waiting for the announcement since Google+ first launched!

  • @albertmora Hi Albert

Depends on what you mean by “integrate”?

If you mean how to integrate Google+ into your overall social media strategy, then it’s a matter of finding your ideal customers on G+ (if they are there at all) and then listening to what they want and crafting your content to suite – pretty much what you do with any social network.

If you mean “how do I push messages from one social network to another”, then just don’t. If you are on a network, you should be ON it – not just paying it lip service.

Also, I am worried by the free use of the term “automate” – you shouldn’t be automating anything to do with posting. Scheduling, yes; automation, NO.

If you automate you are disconnecting yourself from your fans, and that will lead to lower engagement rates.

If you have any questions please let me know.

  • I do like participating on all channels but I’ve been participating much less on Google+ even though I like it, @albertmora

I just added Google+ to my Hootsuite to help with that – maybe I’ll post a bit more now.  But I don’t like sending things to all three places because of the way it looks.  I like posting live on Facebook, adding @ tags to Twitter and @ tags to Google+ when I do post.

  • You might take a look at IFTTT (If This Then that) it is a free website based app that will post to many common social media platforms using triggers that are set to do so automatically. While automation is not as effective as personal posting, it allows users to be involved in more platforms for the same amount of time and energy.
