How did you introduce your Facebook Page? (8 posts)

  • I’m new to Social Marketing. So I’d love to hear how you introduced your Facebook page and the strategies you used to encourage your fans to “Like” your page.

  • Hi Daniel

First thing I would suggest is having a welcome tab on the page, tell them a bit about the page and give them reasons why liking the page is a good idea.  Also have a bold and clear call to action to click the like button.

Tell your existing customers about the pages via email.  Dedicate an email to it, when I included my launch in a general email I didn’t get a lot of response.

Include links to your FB page on email signatures, printed material, website anywhere you can think of.
A competition is a great way of generating a bit of interest and spurring on people to take action.  This can be backed up with a bit of Facebook advertising.

You can work really hard to get people to your page but if the content on the wall isn’t interesting, entertaining or useful then getting that like or further interaction is going to be tough.  Think about what your fans would be interested in reading about not about the information you want to push.  I hope this is helpful, good luck with your page.  It doesn’t always happen quickly but if you stick at it you will get results.

  • You know that there are a number of conversations going on in Facebook right? To introduce your page, simply join these conversations as your facebook page–not to spam, but to provide value.

When you start talking about yourself, people will ignore you. Keep in mind, it’s always about them and how you can be of service to them.

  • @pronoya @jimsyyap @marketmyYou can promote your FB page from your blog as well. You can create a post announcing your new FB page. You should also add a FB badge or button to your blog’s sidebar so people can see that you have a FB page there as well and click on the button in case they missed your announcement (post). After creating your FB page you should create a welcome page for your FB page. Here is Social Media Examiner’s 10 Apps to create the FB page:http://www.socialmediaexaminer.com/top-10-facebook-apps-for-building-custom-pages-tabs/Best wishes :D Heather

  •  @pronoya A Facebook ad worked great in my case. Include a clear call to action like @marketmy mentioned. And like @blogsbyheather said, adding it to your blog’s sidebar is a great help.

Including a share button after each blog post and page on your website will help as well.

  • @marketmy – the tab/Welcome is a great idea! Hadn’t thought of that. Thank you.

@jimsyyap – I ALWAYS do a search before I post, to avoid “post repeats”. I obviously was tired when I did my search!  (DOH!!!!) I just started reading Content Rules. Hoping to learn…

@blogsbyheather  and @jgassistance – I am happy to say, I’ve done that. I have the Page app in my side bar and have “Like” “Share” buttons on all my blog articles.

I”m currently using Intense Debate to monitor my blog comments. I’m thinking of switching the comments system to the Facebook comments system. Any experience with that?

Thanks for your great replies everyone!

  • hi daniel

  •  @pronoya I am actually in the process of testing the FB comments system. As I want to add that to my blogs as well. I just wanted to confirm that it wouldn’t “wipe” out all my existing comments.  So I’m going to setup a test blog to test it and see what happens :D Will definitely post here in the Facebook forum about it as I have a thread started there on the Facebook Comments Plugin :D
