  • i put on a dorky  dog  joke   on  my facebook  today….and l boy are  you all right about   putting  something social on….it  got   141 likes!!! i never get that many  and  2800  reach out of  3400  fans..its  so  good  .i want to do one a week…

..  now  i  have heard  all about  artists photographers and   writers  and their   copyright rights  ….but what about these cheesy  funny   jokes  getting passed around and around  on  facebook?   i see them  even on  social  guru pages  once in a while…they never seem to be   marked   in any way…..so im   trying not to worry about  infringement issues…..

i remember   nicholes   great  answer on this. .now i hope to hear  from others who  use these  jokes   on their page  and   how  they look at it……..where  you draw  theline on using   them…

  • Ha! That’s a good question! I put jokes on my pages as well from time to time, especially at the beginning of the week and on Fridays… When I use sayings/proverbs and quotes I add the source if I have it or I can find it. But I have never thought of copyrights for jokes so far…

  • I’d say you’d be pretty unlucky to have anyone try and claim copyright infringement for using a joke.

    Spread the fun I say.

  • @claudiapoeckl @camwilkes thats how i  feel too…… if  you  need a  good  doggy one   this was sure a hit with my page http://www.facebook.com/greenoakantiques#!/photo.php?fbid=10151154760257594&set=a.129820757593.132826.128260302593&type=1&theater

but i wont  be overdoing it, since its so  seperate  from   my  real  things….and it will prop up my numbers  but   not sure how  valuable  that  would  be  since its so unrelated…..i think the  reach is  into the 3000s  now…

  • Hi Ann, I thought your comments about the response you received after posting the “pupcake” were priceless, I had to post your story on my own Facebook. My husband and I say “marketing-smarketing”…show a cute dog or kitten..then you will see results. We find that when we put one on our Enewsletters!!!! Go figure.

  • as long as you are not trying to make money off the joke and you have not taken the entire collected works of an artist,  it is probably considered fair use.

  • Shared on FB!  So cute.
