How Can I Get More Likes? (10 posts)

  • Anyone have any tactics or strategies for getting more organic FB page “likes”?

  • @mutunga Hi Dewane

Great content, consistently. Mixed in with some advertising at appropriate times. Plus lots of engagement.

Give people a reason to press Like. But focus on Engagement.

  • what  do your  actual  customers  like about you????    go there….

  • I looked at your Page, @mutunga and a couple of suggestions.

    1.  I would get a cover photo.  If I go to a page and it looks “half done” I sometimes don’t even look to see what’s being posted, I just navigate away.  2.  You have some nice quotes in there but I’m wondering how they relate to your business.  Quotes can be used as a supplement but I want to get good advice around your topic of your business.3.  I need more info in your about section.  Why should I “Like” you?  What will I get here?  4.  Commenting on other Pages as your Page can be a good strategy for organic Likes but that does take time.5.  Encouraging conversation by asking questions is good.  I noticed you have some questions in there but you will need more content before your audience trusts you enough to answer.

    Hope that helps!

  • @mutunga Ditto to everything that was already said here, great advice! In addition to everything that was mentioned, try playing around with Ads and Promoted Posts, see if the work for you.

Also look into some fun, low cost apps that will encourage people to engage, and that require ‘Liking’ before participating.

  • @andrea-vahlI’m not sure exactly what page you was referring to, (I had the Conversion Cues page in mind), but you still gave me some food for thought. Thanks for the ideas! :-D

  • @mutunga This is the one you have linked in your profile:  http://www.facebook.com/mrdewanemutunga  It looks like your Conversion Cues also needs a cover photo.  Glad to give you some ideas!

    Hey Dewane,

Agree with everything that has been mentioned above. Facebook’s not about the hard sell, in exchange for a like, people are going to want something in return and know that they are going to benefit from it somehow. Here’s a page with an app that offers a free e-book in exchange for a like. You could do something similar.

Thanks for mentioning the About page. I looked at mine and found a mistake that needs fixed. However, I disagree with you comparing the about page to the main page. The first place the surfer lands is where you show them why they should like the page.

@mutunga There’s lots of good advice in the comments above that should help you.

  • This is a great thread with some very helpful tips.
I have my first client as a social media manager and I started a Facebook page for her a few weeks ago. I try to mix up interesting health facts with links to our articles and articles from other sites as well as asking questions to encourage people to ask their own questions of us. Unfortunately none of this seems to be working since I’ve only gotten 8 likes so far. I tried encouraging Twitter and Linkedin followers to like the page by offering a free 20 minute phone consultation but the response was very weak. My client has not offered me any of her own contacts to try to connect with so I’m pretty much starting with scratch.
Can anyone offer any suggestions as to what I can do to engage readers more and draw people to the page?

    Thanks for your help!
