Hosting a customised Facebook page (10 posts)

Topic tags: Custom page, hosting
  • Hi all.

I was wondering if you could help me.

I have been designing a few customised Facebook pages for clients, however I’m not sure where to host the files as they must be on a secure server. What services do you use to host your pages? or would you recommend purchasing my own SSL domain?

    Many thanks,
    Sam

  • @Sam Scholfield,Hi Sam, there are several options you can try besides hosting.Although I have website tonight from Godaddy and it allows me to create fanpage in addtion to my website pages. If they don’t need to be hosted and you are looking just to create fanpage tabs you can try this app.http://apps.facebook.com/static_html_plus/?ref=ts you can load in java, css, html, etc.

  • I saw your post on the Wall as well,  @samscholfield.  There was a response from a company that was hidden – I unhid it but I don’t know anything about them.  You may ask Tim Ware at HyperArts – he is much better at understanding the issues with the SSL on Facebook.  I would post the question on their Facebook wall:  http://www.facebook.com/HYPERARTS

  • @localbusinessco Thanks for your link, however it doesn’t allow for uploading images or dynamic content, which is why I have been looking into hosting alternative.
@andrea-vahl Thank you for your replies (both on here and on FB). I have sent a message to hyperarts and will see what they suggest.
    Thanks!

  • We host the landing pages we create in a subfolder of our domain or in a subfolder of the client’s domain if we also host their web site. You can do so with GoDaddy, Hostgator and a variety of other vendors. You may have to set up a secure server, and I know that Hostgator assists with that. I’m sure the other hosts would, too. Or you can choose to use a 3rd party app to assist with that.

Lastly, you can’t generally do this with the template-based hosting plans. Simply upgrade to one of the plans with FTP or cpanel access.

    Happy Monday!

  • @samscholfield I use both GoDaaay and ReadyHosting for my websites. If they have an internal blog, I use GoDaddy which uses Linux servers. they offer SSSl certificates but they are inexpensive.I use http://www.readyhosting for custom pages and put them into a folder off my main account. RH offers a shared SSL certificate which is included in the cost of an account. The first host account with them is $99 a year and, after that, reseller accounts are $59. And shares SSL certificates are included! Very good deal. they are a windows server environment and I have used them for years.

  • @michellefontaine~ your link for Ready Hosting returns a century link page.

  • @dedimason – it is http://www.readyhosting.com – I just checked it. Perhaps the way I wrote it in. Thanks Dedi.

  • @michellefontaine~ that one worked :)

  • Hi, may I use your thread for a question regarding ssl/https?

Today I made an new fanpage for my business. It is hosted by Westhost (subdomain) and it has an ssl certificat. I invited some friends to like the page but almost nobody can see the fanpage… This has something to do with people who are not using Facebook with “https” enabled I found out… :(

How can I make sure that everybody is going to see my fanpage? Is there an different app/plugin I can use maybe? This is my page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Studio-Web-Presence/175456989229306
