Help please on Facebook fan page url (10 posts)

Topic tags: Facebook, fan page
  • Siv, an astute Social Media Examiner member, let me know my Facebook fan page address is not working … well it works. The page is there and when I am logged into Facebook and put the url in my browser, I get to the page; however when I’m not logged into Facebook, I can’t get to the fan page directly. Instead, the url routes to the Facebook login page.

  • Oops, the SME system truncated my message. I believe my fan page address is https://www.facebook.com/Job.Getajobtips or maybe http://www.facebook.com/Job.Getajobtips but both addresses route to the main Facebook login page, but am not sure why. Thanks for your help. Kathy Bernard, Getajobtips.com

  • Both links worked for me. —Nice timeline cover image.

  • It doesn’t work on my end.

Check your settings. You probably limited the reach of your fan page to specific countries. I am located in Canada.

  • It worked for me while I was logged in, but once I logged out (suspecting that might be the problem), it instead took me to Facebook’s log-in page and not your fan page.  I had the same issue, brought to my attention by someone who generally accessed Facebook on their smart phone.  Turned out that I had my page settings limiting the access.  If I recall correctly, I had my age restrictions set at something greater than 13+, but I’m not 100% certain that I’m recalling correctly.  (It was a number of months ago…)

  • FYI I’m located in USA

  • Doesn’t work here.Neither does a search within fb..Guessing it’s definitely a settings prob.

Prob silly..but I forgot to publish a page and nobody could find it..as a newbie, I’d say check all settings.

  • @kathybernard I got the general login screen as well. I’m in the DC area of the U.S. Let me know if you want me to check my work’s page settings as I know it can be seen when not logged in. Good luck!

p.s. I have fairly restrictive Google settings so not sure if that plays into my access or not.

  • Correct me if I am wrong, but you have to be a facebook member to see any facebook page. Therefore, if you aren’t logged in, you must log in to see the page.

  • @michaelpingree that is not true. As long as the age limit is not set higher than 13 years of age. If you change that then yes you have to be logged in.
