  • i want to find moms.. lol.. i’ve heard of posting on pages and things.. dont know if it will work. if i do a competition for say a handbag. will i get more fan base from a competition?

  • I would recommend finding pages that moms hang out on or people who are really active in that space and connecting with them, @nicolette-roux

A competition is a great idea but you have to have a little bit of a base to help spread the word when you start.  http://www.socialmoms.com/ is a great place to connect, they have many sub forums.  http://typeaparent.com/ is another one and http://www.5minutesformom.com/ are all good places to start, you can connect with those communities and connect with them on social sites like Facebook and Twitter.  It takes time though.

  • Nicolette…
Here’s a short-cut to getting attention, keeping it and converting it within a forum of mom’s: It’s all about revealing that you’re the gate-keeper to what mom’s need, want, aspire for, desire, etc. It’s about your being willing and able to

    1) Prove to them **quickly** that you have something that will help them achieve X or avoid Y (risk).

    2) Flash (tease) some of that knowledge in ways that creates hunger. For instance, answer a common question in a way that creates more questions from moms.

Bye the way the information needs to be something previously unknown to moms or an insight that people don’t know of. Structure it this way: “most moms think they can get X by doing Y… but in reality, you’ve got to do Z… here’s how in 3 easy steps.” You’ve got to make yourself irresistible so that they’ll take an action (click and explore whatever it is you’re marketing).

    Make sense?

Handing out freebies works but only if you design it to work for you. For instance, you need to be sure the give-away investment is going to net you enough leads to be worth it. Make sense? I recommend against it. Here’s why: Everyone’s giving stuff away. The above recommendation takes work (creative thinking) but is far more effective than throwing out material candy (in my experience).

    Cheers,
    Jeff
