Getting Kids to like my customer Fan Page (8 posts)

Topic tags: advice, engagement
  • Hi,I am managing a fan page to a company that sale back-2-school products for kids. Currently we have over 4K fans but most of them are adults, who buy the products for their kids.I want to get their kids to like the page!Any suggestion? The customer don’t want to pay for advertising on facebook (this will be the easy way …), and I am looking more for a contest or application. Thanks for your help …ilan

  • @ilanamit,

To start off, I have to ask — why do you want the kids to like your page? Isn’t your target customer the parent, i.e. the person who actually makes the purchasing decision?

  • Hey Ilan,

I built a free like to download app you can use for contests http://www.inboundnow.com/apps/like-to-download-app/

You will just need something of value for the kids to download like a free guide on being to coolest kid in school or something like that =)

Let me know if you have any questions on using it.

    Cheers,David

  • I agree with @lukaspleva, the parents are your true customers, @ilanamit   Plus many kids aren’t even on Facebook (at least they aren’t supposed to be under age 13 but I know many of them don’t tell the truth about their age) and probably not that excited about back to school stuff.  I think you need to think about how to make the page more interesting and exciting to the parents.  My 2 cents!

  • @lukaspleva and @andrea-vahl .. you both correct that the paying customers are the parents, but the kids have the power and this is why I want them. When my kids wants something they don’t stop asking, begging, nagging etc’ until they  get what they want … therefore if the kids will like my customers products they will put the pressure on their parents to get it ..

  • @ilanamit,

Maybe, but the kids that nag/beg/scream until they get what they want are generally <13 years of age, i.e. people who are legally not allowed to have FB accounts. The youngest fans you’ll have will be 14+, and then you’re already getting into the teenage demographic, which is a whole different ballgame.

When you say “kids”, do you mean pre-school through elementary grade or older? Keep in mind that the former isn’t even allowed to be on FB.

  • @lukaspleva thanks for your comments. The company web site is http://www.palphot.com/ where you can see their products. With regards to what you wrote, there are many kids in Israel age 11/12 that are on facebook even though they wrote their 13 … in addition, the company products are also good for kids age 13-16 and they are on facebook. By the way .. I have a 16 years daughter which love to nag/beg/scream when she want something … :)

  • @andrea-vahl what about the power of kids. I recently saw a kid convince her parents that spending $180 on a stuffed animal was a good idea. Parents seldom come to that sort of a decision alone.Yes, you want the parents if the product is generic, but if this is brand name or in some way special you have to remember the power that a mid has to influence the decision.
