General: What does social media really produce? (6 posts)

  • I have a quick question for anyone who wants to chime in. In your opinion, do you think social media produces leads, awareness, or both? I would love if you could explain your answer as well.

    Thanks,Trent

  • First, it depends on the quality of social channel and how well do you manage it.

    In very simple, general way:
It does provide leads: some businesses keep up mainly on the leads social channels provide them.

Think of a lead caught not by the link in the description of the company, but by the links you provide sharing common interests, stories. Bringing news and photos. And when everybody begins to listen to You (because of Your interesting, compelling, common interest with target audience content), You include a link to Yourself – and everybody do click it.

With awareness we apply the same. Since everybody sees how their friends interact with what company. It’s becoming more viral. And friends acts in the way their friends do.

Conclusion: it provides leads and word of mouth. You engage with people, and they do bring other people. Keep working upon well content.

  • how about  ACTUAL  CASH? thats what i  count the most…for our  business it produces a major  connection with our  customers  ,leading to     excitement  about our products…. this week alone it was directly  linked to an 800$$  pc of  furniture and a  group of  4 women   coming to the store and shopping….average sale  here is about  40$$ so  4 women is nice…how  did oi know on that?   they asked where the   suitcases  were,  and i  said  did  you see them on facebook and they said  yes….  i posted them   about a week ago…

    in other words…MAJOR    for us…

  • Thank you @tomas-slimas and @annfurnivall for giving me ome further information. Would you say companies that don’t have blogs to post their own content on are missing out on the possible “conversion” opportunities than the ones that have them? Thus giving a direct link back to their website for a possible conversion.

  • @trentjordan10 i think if  you had to choose between  website and blog a website would  be a lot better..  a user  could  find  your  main/ most important    info  better on a website…..it  would  be  organized   better….not  so  random and  varied   as a  blog is…. we stay  current on our  website  with a  NOW IN  section   which  changes   monthly….but  the main info  is  there on the  front page of  the site  for anyone to    find….

..personally our  business   facebook replaced our   blog   ..and it  works  for our  business much  better than our  blog ever did….probably  since our  customers are already on  facebook and   its  easier for them to see us  there….

is  blog  viewership  going  down?  i used to   follow lots,  now   i hardly ever do   …they were  huge in my field  ….  lately  im  more  interested in  seeing   my interests on  facebook and pinterest…

there are so many places to go!!!

I would say if you don’t have a blog you are missing out yes. Social media like FB and Twitter etc are only 2 possible channels of advertising your product or service – and they are not the greatest. I think the idea is to reach as much of your target audience as possible and so by combining all of these media channels increases your conversion – abiity. Blogs are good, professional-looking, hubs to tie everything together and these days much more reliable and measurable than just one or two social media channels. If any of that makes sense. Yes to the blog thing is my point.
