GeCreating a business opportunity with Facebook (5 posts)

  • Hi Everyone

I recently decided to start adding Facebook pages to my services as a web designer.  People get charged montly and insane amounts to create fan pages.  I’d like your take on it.  Perhaps this can be an extra for you too.

Seeing that we are all business people, we should know what we’d like on the page , how much we are willing to pay for it etc.  with that said I was thinking.  A once off payment for the design.  Perhaps a monthly fee to post updates as most people don’t know how to or are too busy to do it themselves.  And then there’s the LIKE package, to get them more likes.

Also, let’s share the various good facebook promotational tools we know of.  Take care, and I hope you’ll take this idea and make some money of it.  I’ve already made afew bucks in testing to see if such a service will work and it does.  Please share you’re other business ideas too :-)

  • I am already charging local businesses to create a Fan Page for their business. I have recently learnt that it would be very helpful to find a graphic designer to help with creating a custom made Logo which flows with their branding. I have not found one yet so would be happy to know how much you charge for designing.
I am finding out that it is also important to be an authority in the topic to be able to offer my services because a lot of people are coming up, calling themselves Social Media Consultants and don’t actually have a clue and not able to deliver. There is an African saying that goes”Charity begins at home”. In effect to be able to put yourself forward as been able to help others, they should be able to see how you have used this tool to improve your business.
Another tool you should be using and encouraging your clients to use is Face Book Ads. By putting up Ads you are able to get and capture more customers. it is therefore very important to ensure that you are directing those clicking the Ads to a squeeze page on the Facebook platform. This way,you would be able to collect their information or whatever you intend them to do easier than if you where sending them off to another website
I do hope my contribution is meaningful and helpful.

  • Hi Uki

Very valuable indeed.  That saying really goes along way.  That’s why I’m currently redesigning my website and soon my Facebook page. You know how the hairstylist always have the crappy style, the buildes house don’t look too great too, well it’s true.  Charity begins at home, so we should make sure we have our own ground covered.

I do a little graphic design, but it’s not really my passion, I prefer to stick to web design.  I am also not a social media expert, just know what I need to know, but have upskilled myself enough to give clients valuable information to help them understand how it works.  I also like to show people how they can do things themselves and then decide if they want to do it or have someone do it for them.

Please do keep in touch.  Perhaps we can advise and comment on work done.  It’s always good to have an honest opinion.

What’s your like package? Also, with the timeline style do you think folks still need the custom welcome page?

  • Until recently I charged about $25.  You’re actually right, if people would put in a little effort, they would now be able to do it themselves.  But there are still people like me that don’t want to struggle or spend the time to find out things work, and just give someone else the opportunity to make money and pay their bills :-)

I personally liked the welcom/landinge page, but I don’t think I will include it on my new page.  I wonder what will happen to companies that only made money creating landing pages.

People also don’t know how to create custom url’s which is really easy if you just learn how to.  what would you think is a reasonable price Rob?  I can’t see why people are still paying for things like pagemodo, or what’s that thing called again?  I think that’s a bit hectic compared to a once off fee.
