Friend Requests Suspended Incorrectly (6 posts)

  • I am a marketer and I do know Facebook’s rules. If you send a lot of requests and people don’t accept them they can suspend you if it is a certain ratio which they do not reveal.
I know if friend requests go unanswered it can do the same.
What I do not understand is that my personal profile account has sent ZERO friend requests in 6 months but one to my best friend lol who obviously accepted and in a year I have been suspended I kid you not 4 TIMES!
The previous 6 months I was told by FB I was suspended for friend requests going unanswered (there were 15-20) from more than a year ago. But I have no requests now and was suspended again.
What is going on with this platform. It cracks me up. They want you to connect with friends but even if you choose not to you get suspended.
Trust me when I say I literally have sent zero friend requests. I never log on to Facebook and only happened to figure it out when I went while writing a press release to view a band’s FB page and the suspension notice came up.
I use buffer and hootsuite to post and have logged into FB about 4 times over the month to fix some client FB issues. I don’t get it.
Any ideas here? Is it just me or do they need to revise this friend issue they are having. Several of my friends have had the same problem and one of them hadn’t even used FB in 5 months!
Thanks in advance for any ideas :)

  • Sorry I didn’t reply earlier, @camden-smith – I was having a little trouble logging in here :)

That is REALLY strange.  I have I’m sure more than 15-20 unanswered requests and I’ve never been suspended.  Would there be some strange game or app sending out requests for you?  I would double check the Apps on your Account settings area and delete anything you don’t recognize.  Other than that I can’t think of any reason that would be happening.  Have you mentioned that to Facebook when they say your account was suspended?

I wonder if there is something strange going on with accounts that don’t have people login in awhile.  Maybe some hacker.  I haven’t heard of that as a widespread problem.

  • Hello @camden-smith @andrea-vahl
I think this is more prevalent than you might think. I have been suspended twice this year (and I too know the rules and follow them).
At first I thought perhaps someone had reported me (for what reason, I really had no idea) but when it happened a second time within a couple of months I knew for sure it was not me, but some kind of FB thing.  I don’t spend a lot of time there – a few tines a week to catch up with family and only a smidgen of biz stuff ( I like G+ much better for biz ).

Since I don’t depend on these platforms for business per se, they really are ‘social-social media’ to me.

  • OOps – that should say “last year” – sheesh.

  • scary….. i  send maybe one  request aa month……..but  stories like this remind me not to do apps  unless im  really sure….since i dont  really understand EVERYTHING that  can  cause problems…..

  • Very strange!   @supereb  I’m sure you are using it within the guidelines.  Seems like they should get that fixed since it’s a real turnoff to people who are using it correctly.
