Forums, blogs, and video chat, are they a must on Facebook (6 posts)

  • Hi all
As usual I’m thinking how to better engage users on Facebook, how do get my likers to my page to interact more with my brand, how do I get people to sit and discuss, so I have developed three apps that I hope will do that, Forums app, Blog app and a video chat app to talk up to 12 people at the same time that will directly on my page , my question to the club is this something you would use and implement, or is it just simply a bad idea..
Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated what opinions do you have?

  • @donalfdellifiori Sounds good, Alf. It all depends on what they are like and how well they work.

I am cautious about turning FB into too many things. Facebook is what it is – a social network that is great at building a brand and attracting new customers, but I’m not sure it’s a blog or a forum.

The video chat would be a boon if it works like Google+’s Hangouts, which is fantastic.

  • @russellallert Thanks Russell, the Video chat wi just like that with a few extra features, photo share, youtube share and file share in any format.. we still in the development stages of adding friends list and friend requests all in all the testing we have done is great.. in regards to the forum and blog they will be a tab on the left hand side so your page will not be affect in the way its used you can simply make refrence to your new blog and theuser never leaves Facebook tipycaly the same for The forum tab

  • @donalfdellifiori Hello! There was a great thread started a while back, that addresses ways to engage with a Facebook community: http://www.socialmediaexaminer.com/clubs/facebook/forum/topic/relationship-development/

Personally, I feel it is better to invest in such strategies rather than turn Facebook into a blog, forum or other third-party application. Having said that, if done well, your ideas can certainly find a niche, in particular the video application (like G+ is aiming to do with its Hangout feature).

    Cheers,

  • @donalfdellifiori I recommend checking out the topic post that  @fredericgonzalo shared (Thank you Frederic!). There are many different ways to trigger interactions from your followers. Asking questions or posting polls can help interactions. Hosting a free webinar for followers could also help trigger postings and questions to interact with followers. I do highly recommend the G+ Hangout feature as well!

  • @fredericgonzalo @alexandrabriggs That was a great thread and defiantly positive ways to engage. And what I take away from that is as people share more, they have access to more opinions from the people they trust about the products and services they use, take for instance Mari Smith @marismith her Facebook page is informative she delivers her message well and is always looking for a way to engage deeper with her fans, personally her page has all the attributes of the post from @gabriel is always a positive start and the best way to engage,  lets no forget though that discovering and using the best products and improve the quality and efficiency of users is true engagement
