  • There is this delicate balance when people follow
you on FB, its like they dont expect you to be their friend per se but
they want to be informed, know what’s going on with the company, but
you also want to get people engaged and keep it fun too. What are your suggestions, tips, or strategies for finding common ground on Facebook?

  • i go  about   4  posts about  products to  1 not  about  products….  my  fans are naturally interested in  the   products and  the store  so its   easy to engage..the  products  are kind of  fun to start with…

one popular post w as once when  a  shelf  broke and a whole pile of  dishes  crashed  to the  floor…we  got a  good picture of that….  another time we   had a  garden  event and  took  lots of   customer pictures and made an album of them…  .

but its mostly about product  ,we get  a lot of   engagement on  product pictures too….  lately we have  been posting  about once a day…earliler it was about  4 times a week…

  • @shannontaylor22  It is tough to balance!  Sometimes I find myself with too much business stuff to say and not enough personal.  But I do get much more engagement on the personal stuff so I have to make sure it’s in there.  Plus I like to have fun on Facebook!
I find that pictures get a lot of engagement – I like to share interesting pictures and post my own.  On my personal profile I have a lot of people subscribed so I still post some tips and my blog posts but I tend to be more social there.

  • if you can find a way to make your product personal, then you’ve got the best balance!

  • @shannontaylor22 – It is a tough balance.  I have found that if the page is to business like then fans don’t get as engaged or as excited about the page as we would like them to be. We try to think like our customers to find out what they would like to hear about and tailor to their needs that way. So we have a mix of fun, business updates, specials, announcements, competitions, giveaways. We monitor how each of our posts are received (using insights) and try to tailor the next post to make it more engaging. I hope that helps!
