FB promotion/contest ideas? (6 posts)

  • Hey all, I am considering running a few promotions/contests for a recruiting dept of a large organization and was looking for a little brainstorming help. Here are a few ideas I have.

    • Video contest with current employees highlighting why the company is so good. FB fans can vote for their favorite video and both the fan and the employee can win prizes.
    • A series of Q&As where the user will have to search the company’s website to find the answers. The top 10 scorers win prizes.
    • Post 10-12 videos of employees volunteering in the community and ask fans to vote which is most meaningful to them.
    • Sweepstakes where the winner gets direct advice from a recruiter on their resume, personal appearance, qualifications and their answers to standard interview questions. This is an educational session where the  candidate can learn from their mistakes.

What do you think? Could these work? What other ideas do you have?

    Thanks!
    Adam

  • I think these are a great start, @adamglassman

I think the first one would be hard to engage your current community in because someone else wins the prize.  The employees may be motivated to share it with their audiences to get votes so you may get some new fans.

The “treasure hunt” idea is fun.  There are some contest apps that have that feature.  I think the employees volunteering is a nice idea but who would win the prize?  Randomly drawn from those that vote?

I also like the sweepstakes with advice from a recruiter, I think that could work work really well.  Are your company’s customers the jobseekers?  If not then it wouldn’t be as effective.  Always be thinking of how you can target your customers as the people who would win the contest.

  • I think those are all great ideas for contests @adamglassman and you could pull them off and @andrea-vahl always has great ideas, so I would take what she says and implement it.

    Good luck!

  • Thanks guys. @andrea-vahl my audience is both the job seekers and current employees of the company. But mainly, it’s the job seekers since it’s a careers-focused page.

On some of the voting ideas, I was thinking we could do a random prize drawing for those who voted, that way they can win just for participating.

Something Amex did a while ago sparked an idea for me too. I was thinking of somehow making a promotion based off volunteering. Not quite sure how it will play out yet, but the company itself has a very large commitment to community giving and I’m wondering if there might be a way to motivate the page’s fans into some sort of charity/volunteerism partnership. Maybe somehow donate to a particular org or volunteer their time in conjunction with a pre-determined charity the company already supports?

Would you give a prize for that? I feel it’s selfish in a campaign based off of helping others to enter just because you’d win a prize yourself. What do you think?

    Thx for the feedback!

  • I wonder if you could have some type of vote-off between some charitable organizations, @adamglassman- that way the organizations could mobilize their people to vote too (although they may not be in your target market).  I think that could work well and also highlight your philanthropic mission.

  • Good idea. Thanks!
