FB Page Category (10 posts)

  • Hi there,

I would like to show my business as an employment agency but that is not among the choices on the edit page.  I have seen several businesses with this category.  Would anyone know how I might change my page to this category?  Thanks.

  • @swrightboucher – I went looking through all of the categories and did not see employment agency listed.  It is possible that the pages you have seen with that listing may be pages that existed prior to any of the major FB changes in the last year and it is an “old” category.

The pages you have seen… what were their primary and secondary categories? (i.e. Companies/Organizations and then Legal)  Maybe you could narrow it down that way?

  • I agree with Lisa. There have been a lot of changes lately and it may have been a category that was changed. If you have some examples of the other businesses that are listed in this category I would be glad to check it out. I’m curious now.

  • Hi there, @sheilahoeft and @lisaschulteis – Thank you for your comments and for your curiosity.

Here are two example sites: The People Bank and Aerotek.

  • @swrightboucher, thanks for the examples.  I took a look at them and my honest answer is “I don’t know.”  Again, the only thing I can think of is that they are older pages with older categories.  I know that is not very helpful, but I don’t see any other way that they were able to choose that category.

  • Thanks @lisaschulteis.  At least now I know I’m not crazy.  I thought I was missing something.

  • @swrightboucher – You’re never crazy when it comes to FB.  With the huge changes they have made in the last year, you never know.  And since they don’t always roll out changes to everyone at the same time, it can be a bit frustrating at times.  :)

  • @swrightboucher and  @lisaschulteis  I think those categories were created in the Place area possibly.  Because when you click on Employment Agency link, it takes you to the Places area in both cases.  I don’t have enough Place pages to play with to try.  But that’s my suspicion.

  • @andrea-vahl and  @swrightboucher – I thought that might be the case as well, however, I looked at a few of the place pages I manage and that category is not an option on those pages either.  So I am still stumped.

  • @lisaschulteis, @andrea-vahl,

Nice to meet people who are curious as I am about solving mysteries.  I wonder if categories were freeform text at one time?

    Thank you both.
