FB comments Blocked after Overuse (8 posts)

  • Hi,
Recently I conducted a Celebrity FB Wall Chat on my client’s Facebook Wall- a movie page. The fans posted questions on the wall and the actress answered them. As you can imagine, a “lot” many questions were asked! But after a certain limit, the actress’s profile was blocked by Facebook from commenting, showing the following error – http://twitpic.com/8dj4uy/full , saying she had overused the feature.
She was able to comment again only the next day, but was able continue to post on the wall.

Would like to know if there is any other way to sort out the problem other than wait it out.

    Thanks.

  • Facebook says: Facebook has policies to stop behavior that other members may find annoying or abusive. Even if you did not have this intention, we determined that you posted something that violated our standards or were repeatedly using the same feature in a short period of time.

  • As far as I know, there is no way around it. What you can do in the future is have your guest post longer replies. That means answering more questions in one reply. Of course it is not a sure way, and it is not that much of a great solution. But it is a way. If anyone knows any better please share!

Thanks for the tip. Next time onwards, I’ll try to be more careful about it. This was the first time so I guess I learnt from my mistake!

    Thanks.

Never even thought about this possibility. Thanks for starting this forum and I’ll be sure to keep this in mind when planning for these types of events.

Sorry you had to go through that, Vijay, but so glad you shared your experience so the rest of us could learn.

My pleasure! I too learnt a lot of stuff from here!!

  • We have occasionally run into that as well @vijayspaul when we do the Expert Friday sessions.  Guy Kawasaki was banned because he was commenting so quickly.  One of the things we tell our guests is to occasionally take some breaks so you aren’t commenting so quickly on the posts.  Then another thing that has occasionally been helpful is they switch to commenting as their Page (or to their profile if they have been commenting as their Page before).

  • @andrea-vahl Thanks! Second time what we did was, we let the celebrity answer collectively as a wall post. That pretty much was an alternative and also didnt turn out to be hectic for the individual :)
    Thanks for your advice.
