FB and online shopping (3DCart) (7 posts)

  • Does anyone have any experience – good or bad- with integrating online shopping into their Facebook pages?  Is it worthwhile?  Hard to do?  Etc…

    Thanks!

  • Good question. Several retailers have tried and failed. I posted an article on my site, scroll 1/2 way down the page, that said Gamestop, JC Penny and several other retailers abandoned that strategy.  http://www.social4retail.com/everything-you-wanted-to-know-about-facebook.html
There’s another article I posted regarding FB vs. email marketing that may also be interesting. It is also posted on that page…additional thoughts can be found on my blog in the site.
BUT I would love to hear from people that have been successful, especially if they are selling higher ticket items like furniture.

  • @hendione

Setting up a store with a shopping cart on facebook isn’t hard to do at all. Just about anything you can do with WordPress can be put into your page canvas.

What are you trying to do?

  • We would just be using our existing vendor 3DCart and their FB app to create a shopping experience.   I thought I had read about some companies abandoning it; maybe it was the article above from @BillNapier

  • F-Commerce is alive and well. Reports of its death have been…..you know the rest.

2 things: The press will report anything negative about FB any time they can coz of tall poppy syndrome. They would have been doing cartwheels when those major retailers shut down their stores.

Why did they shut them down? Simple…they had NFI how to do e-commerce on facebook. :)

  • @scottlinklater we love hearing comments like this! Here at ShopTab we are running into the issue of people just don’t know what to do with it once they have it up and running.

  • I’m using the shop tab, but it’s connected to my ebay account, so I don’t have to add products or remove them if they are sold in other site, it’s not extra work for me. Also I saw that in the 3D cart, you have to pay extra, if you use the app for ebay, you pay just ebay and you have doble exposure, on ebay and FB.

For me, that experience is just right, is like I have an other location where to sell without representing extra cost or extra time. And easy to use and buy for my clients.
