FB algorithm headache (6 posts)

  • Hey all,

    I was wondering how everyone was handling the recent Edgerank algorithm change.  After working hard to post pics and valuable links for content, a lot less people are seeing them.  It’s frustrating to pay for advertising or do things to get likes and then a very small few see each post.

    Has anyone made some effective adjustments?

    Thanks!

  • i hate this also  ….  what ive done is   add  about  20% in  text only posts…. and  keep   putting   the much more popular   picture posts on…im  so  frustrated knowing that so many a rent seeing  what  they really like…i get  much more engagement on  the picture posts… but i know ive  fallen off of  some important peoples   pages[a huge  customer  from  far away],,,they told me…..  then others who  seem  silent are still on  so ????

    ii hope  this subject  dosnt   fade away…its a  big one to me….

    another  problem isee that isnt  discussed is the LAZY LIKERS….   ones who  like my page  but never bother to do anything….they signed up , isnt that enough?  i have never asked  for likes or put   like  contests on  and dont think it  fits  me or would  go over  well anyway…   our page is awonderful   huge tool  for us…

    @scott-murray what are  you doing?

  • @scott-murray I have added more text-only posts, generally in the morning (EST). Still I find that the truly “viral” content does well even if it doesn’t receive a huge number of views (there are likes, shares and comments). It’s a matter of hitting that sweet spot which is still a tad elusive…

  • Thanks, Kristy!  Yeah, I’ve read about the success of more text-only posts.  I plan on using more of those in the mix.

  • We’re posting 98% large warm and fuzzy images that garner comments like ”D’awwwwwwww!!!!   that get 660 likes 145 shares and seen by 5606 people – it’s all about knowing your audience. The image that garnered those stats was a quick share of a fan and I got lucky but I spend 10 – 40 minutes seeking the “right” images for every post along with the appropriate comment & link. We get very little traction with video and even less with text. We do not pay to promote posts only to drive traffic to the page

  • @Scott Murray edgerank is about relevancy just like google’s algo – it’s also about consistency. You do not post daily which is probably hurting you. Also let’s say I’m unemployed and I’m seeking training am I going to engage with a facebook page having images of a hard working technicians solving a problem in front of racks of blade servers or a courtroom scenario or Winnie the Pooh? Winnie the Pooh? really? That’s why your fan page visitors are saying TTFN
