Fastest Growing Fan Pages You have ever Seen! (9 posts)

  • Hi guys, what are some of the fastest growing Fan Pages you have ever seen?

    Personally I have built 2 pages that went from zero to over 10,000 fans in 14-18 days and another that i took over with 700 fans that we got to over 10 k in 2 weeks but i have seen some pages that were more community based grow at amazing speed, especially for a small population like Australia.

    Just last month an Australian Footballer who played in the top level competition (equivalent of an NFL player in American football) died after falling from a Vegas casino roof on an end of season trip. A tribute page to him gathered over 130,000 fans in a day! It was extremely sad and shows the viral power of facebook when  everyone has a common reason for getting together.

    A few months ago a meme page here in Australia also on the subject of Australian Rules Football went from 0 to over 30,000 fans in a day and was over 100,000 within a couple of months.

    Tell us about the fastest growing fan pages you know of. This is not a chance to promote a page, we don’t need to know the URL,s just the story and the numbers will do!

    Look forward to hearing some crazy stories of fan pages that went mega-viral!

  • Thanks Scott,
    I have been racking my brain trying to get on track with the Facebook Likes. Your information will really help!

    Thanks Again

  • @scottlinklater Hey Scott

    Glad to see another Aussie here. :)

    This post is a bit of fun, but I just wanted to mention that growing fans for your Facebook Page as quickly as you describe above is a terrible way to do it.

    A business should be growing fans slowly and steadily over time, not getting thousands in one day.

    The issues around growing your page too quickly are numerous but the major reasons not to are:

    • You don’t get a good sense of who is Liking your page;
    • If you are growing that quickly you are probably not targeting a niche very well;
    • Long-term engagement will be poor as most of the “Likers” will almost certainly lose interest in a short space of time.

    This all depends, of course, on what you are hoping to gain from the page, but if you are a small business looking to make a good impression with Facebook, then grow your fans slowly over time.

  • Hey @russellallert , yea there are a few aussies here so all good!

    Re growing fan pages fast, I don’t think the tribute page or the meme page had much say in the speed they grew, they went viral and you can’t stop a runaway train!

    As for the pages i built, you could not find 3 more tightly niched, laser targeted pages with some of the highest engagement rates I have ever seen on any fan page ever….so maybe I am the exception to the rule but these pages engage their absolute socks off and the fan base is as loyal and “sticky” as you will ever see!

    So it worked for me :) By the way, every single one of the fans were legit, there was no purchase of bulk fans at all! That’s a different story…in that case then yes I am sure we would see what you mentioned but there is a massive difference between buying likes and building fan pages fast!

  • @scottlinklater I should hope you didn’t buy likes!

    Good for you, but “Instant Fans” sounds a little spammy to me.

  • @scottlinklater what’s your secret to getting your facebook page out there and seen to get so many “like” in such a short time?  Where are you promoting your fb pages?

  • Hi @kelly-busch

    In the case of these 3 pages it was a combination of targeted facebook advertising and the ads worked really well so the cost per click was very very low. That bought in a lot of the fans initially.

    From there we made sure we were posting really good content that asked questions and engaged the new fans immediately. Stuff that would get them wanting to reply, get them debating, get them voting and get them fired up! Yep, nothing wrong (depending on what type of page it is) with getting your fans to discuss topics that may polarise them one way or another…it’s great for engagement!

    We also did some awesome give-aways and contests really early on so they knew that there was going to be some quality stuff up for grabs.

    The thing you need to remember, no matter who you are or how good you are at facebook marketing, some pages are much more suited to facebook and large fan bases than others so don’t be discouraged by the numbers.

    Whilst some pages are easier to build than others, all businesses can benefit from a quality facebook marketing campaign.

    Cheers

  • I have been tring to get some fans for my FB page. But it does seem it is working. Your reply does explains the reason. I do like the idea fo advertisements- clicks- but I think I need some ideas to do it it does work wor me too
