Fan Appreciation (7 posts)

  • What is your favorite or easiest application in FB to use to track fan participation.  One of my clients wants to run a monthly contest.  It is easy to hand track a weekly contest, but going back over a month could become tedious.

I have seen several on people’s pages, but would appreciate your suggestions.

  • Booshaka tracks fan participation over a month period and it has a rewards program.  The basic app is free but the rewards is a premium feature but I think worth it to deliver the contest.  If you use the free component, there isn’t much customization on when you can track, I think it follows calendar months but I’m not sure.

  • Thanks Andrea – does anyone else use anything else?

  • I’ve used the free version of Booshaka as well. It’s limited, but not bad. But, was way too pricey to use the paid version based on our fan count.

  • At Crowd Smart Media we use only Facebook insights. Every month for every client of ours we run a contest on their fan page. One day one before any announcements are made we look at the engagement rate let’s say it’s at 11%. then all month we advertise the contest and post about it, respond to all comments around it or anything else. Then the day after we announce the winner we look again at the insights and now they are at let’s say 22%. You have been successful in getting a number of fans to talk to or about your business and had the opportunity to advertise the business to all of the engaged fans, friends and family.

To find the engagement percentage just take the basic % math formula.. If you have 102 fans and 12 people are talking about you. Take 12 and multiply by 100 then you divide by 102. The % of engagement is at 11%. The higher the engagement the more successful you are. Now a month later after you have been running the contest do the math again. the number of people talking about you has grown to 24 and your fans are now at 108 do the math. 24*100= 2400. 2400/108=22.2% engagement.

  • Yes @ashleyhyde and how do you choose a “winner” per say?

  • @Vincent Depending on the contest, sometimes the person with the most points at the end of the month (whomever had the most correct answers) and sometimes we pick 3 great interactions and let the community decide which was best. To see the different contests, go to our website http://www.crowdsmaetmedia.com/contests/
