FACEPLANT GIVEAWAYS! A Big oops? (4 posts)

  • Really people… Share to win giveaways on here are violations of Facebook and there promotional guidelines. Do we really want to to lose accounts for 500 Likes? This is not organic and I see it harming SM advertising. Any thoughts?

  • Yep – there are a lot of violations out there.  The problem is many people get away with it and Facebook can’t police all of them.  But I think it’s just a matter of education – some people just don’t know better (I’ve even seen so-called social media consultants doing it!)

  • i always  figure   they might   start  enforcing..just out of  the  blue  and then  you would  be   knocked off  facebook….  ..   so i  try and  stay within  the  rules…

  • @andrea-vahl @annfurnivall

I have heard of numerous people getting their accounts axed because of violating terms of service, so it does happen. But rarely, I suspect. What irks me is when people intentionally violate FB’s terms, and when I challenge them on it they say, “Well, everyone else does it.”

No, not everyone else does it. And even if they did, that doesn’t make it right. Didn’t your mom teach you that?
